If Ash would have just kept his old Pokemon, he could defeat everybody with ease. I mean seriously, his Squirtle is probably at an incredibly high level now. And Charizard could probably defeat just about any Pokemon now. Not saying he's a bad trainer, but most of his actions nowadays are questionable.

I hate how every season he replaces all of his Pokemon but Pikachu..and it seems like he always catches the region's bird Pokemon, he almost always somehow obtains all or most of that region's starters, etc...if starters are so rare, Ash must be the luckiest trainer alive D:

Yeah, him catching the starters is pretty far fetched. He didn't even catch Charmander. He just found him abandoned by his trainer. Lucky Ash.
