It's marvelous seeing your work grow from the early days of Invincible to where you are now. Seriously, you're an inspiration to artists everywhere.

Except for me.

Wow. You never fudge the anatomy. No matter what pose or camera angle. It's always right. I'm envious.

Well that's not entirely true, but thank you. I'm always trying to improve anatomy, I have lots to learn.

i bet capullo doing the 'storyboarding' for your final art saves a lotta planning for you. i like the team work.

i was wondering if there were finished inks posted anywhere (they're done digitally correct?) i'm interested in studying how the digital inks matchup w/ the pencils they're based on.

sort of practicing digtal inking myself and was wondering how accurate to the penciler's rendering it actualy is

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RyanOttley In reply to EryckWebbGraphics [2010-01-07 15:46:44 +0000 UTC]

Well in this case it's very accurate to the pencils. Every line you see here is darkened using levels in Photoshop and it all sees print. Todd adds details here and there to the pencils, not going over any already drawn line, only adding more detail lines. You'll have to grab the actual comic from your local comicbook store to compare. There are no inks online.

OMFG! Incredible is an understatement. No disrespect to Capullos layout but you blow this away with the amount of detail and energy you put into it. One question: When your shading how do you determine what you actually shade and what you "x" in? Is it just how you feel about the art or a time saver? Again, great job!

Layouts take some time. With those done Ryan can just hop on and start drawing.

100% true. Layouts can take longer than penciling...or it sure seems that way sometimes.

Still a big fan of seeing the different finishing approach you do on this compared to Invincible. Both are awesome... which is more fun? Gritty and hatched Haunt, or open and clean Invincible?
