yes, but there is a 1.6x crop so its more like 400mm.

yeah digital SLR's unless you get the Canon 5D or the original Canon Mark II don't have a full frame (equivalent to using film), instead they have crops so if the crop is 1.6x you have to multiple the focal length by that much to get the actual focal length. great for getting more reach but crappy for wide angle.

Ahh, gotcha. I wasn't sure what you were meaning, but I getcha now I have the D50, so yeah, it does come with the weird frame. But I normally just resize it to a 1.33 ratio, and go from there.

it has nothing to do with the image size. just how much the sensor sees. you should see how much of a difference a 1.5x crop is from what a 35mm slide would show.
