You see only the Communications Center, the Power Plant (Bottom Left), Constructor (Upper Right) and the Repair Facility (Between the Comms. Center and a church-like building), with the only machines present being a Fighting Machine - 1st Gen unit and a Digging Mechanism.

Now, if you let the AI work on the defenses (using a 'Spy' Method), you'll notice that the FIRST defenses are being placed at the SOUTH SIDE of the ENTIRE SECTOR (see the orange dots on the minimap? That indicates the Martian Structures and defenses, save for the Fences...)! Logic?
