This isn't a critique just a comment to say overall a very nice painting but the far hay bales diminish in size too quickly. The far bale would have to be smaller than the window on the nearest building. Hope that is helpful

Hi, Pete.

Though you don't consider it as a critique, it was very constructive to me. I should tell you that critiques are very welcome here. They really turn us into better artists. Compliments are great to satisfy my ego and I really get a bunch of them, but I do appreciate your comment, more than a simple compliment.

In this particular watercolor I tried to follow the hay bales' sizes as they are seen in the reference photo. Sometimes I think they diminish too fast, and sometimes I don't. Perspective still play tricks on me and I confess I'm not sure if it's right or wrong... I need more time and experience to find out...

Anyway, you were helpful. But please feel free to criticize my works. Don't be shy to let me know your opinion.

Thanks a lot for your comment! Have a great day!

Ok,cool. The last thing I want to do is dampen another artist's enthusiasm.

Thank you so much for such cool words!

By the way, do you what "mandinga" means here in Brazil?

no actually no..i only know the meaning of the word in spanish...what means there?

We have in Brazil some african religions that were brought by the slaves few centuries ago, like umbanda and candomblΓ©. They're still very common in Rio de Janeiro.

Those sects have some rituals and their followers incorporate spirits. They also do some "spiritual business", like voodoo and black magic (oh yes, very freaking crazy stuff). So when someone wants to do an enchantment against somebody they don't like, they "hire" a spirit to do this witchcraft. We call this sort of "magic" as mandinga.

Superstitious pleople are very afraid of this things. Luckly, I don't believe in witchcraft, and enchantment in my opinion is bullshit.

I actually don't know its meaning in spanish. Could you tell me?

well,i didnt know about that..i knew the mandinga tribe from africa,i guess they made in brasil a mix beetween the africans and brasilians..i know what kind of magic you are talking about, umbanda is here alsoin argentina..although i dont believe in that stuff too,its always good to keep and eye on those things..evilness has more than a thousand faces..here in argentina Mandinga is one of the names of demon..not like Satan,or Lucifer, its more like a little demon who make jokes and treat on countryside people,so i liked as a funny character, like a legend or folkclore...so interesting,a word with so many meanings....thanks for your reply!
