Really cool, especially the bloodshot floaty eyeballs. I have no idea how the hell this machine works, but I still love it!

I love the concept but I think that it would be a boring existance for he or she to have, considering the cybernetics lack tools to manipulate the enviroment. Like hands or even something like a plow if it is a slave.
It's very different, i have never seen a steampunk cyborg before. Good work.

that is a great idea! I am working on another model and will sort out a pipe organ voicebox. thanks.

Hey, the gramaphone speaker is just a cop out.

Either that, or a harpsicord of some sort, but the Steam-Powered Pipe Organ seems more appropriate!

I finally had to fav this, I keep coming back to it.

I've been working on a mecha-brain sculpture for a while, and love what you've done with the concept.

Oh my. Oh my oh my oh my.

I never thought I could say this about a brain in a jar, but WOW.

On a semi related note, have you ever seen "The City of Lost Children"? Your brain-a-ma-bob reminds me of Uncle... but COOLER!!

rsandberg In reply to eegoss [2008-02-21 01:36:25 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! It is actually a self portrait...

Although I have not seen "The City of Lost Children" in years, I consider it to very influential to my work. Visually speaking, I am also a big fan of "Brazil" and "12 Monkeys".

Wow. That's all I can say right now. Wow.

I think my favourite part must be either the brain or the gears... but you did a wonderful job on the whole thing. I think that the Copic blender is used very well, and the bits of rust really complete the piece. I would never be able to think of something like this, much less actually draw it

In addtion to being a steam powered cybernetic life support system it also functions as a Geroge Forman Grill and detal floss despencer.

AmbrMerlinus [2007-04-29 02:17:49 +0000 UTC]

This is definitely something I've not seen the likes of before. I like how it looks so inhuman, and yet it is a cyborg and not just a machine because there is a human inside of it. I also like all the detail, especially the rust spots. This picture looks like a very complete/final/professional product, the result of all the other work you've done in your gallery.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

rsandberg In reply to AmbrMerlinus [2007-04-29 02:25:06 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for picking up on that. Most of my other works are tests and studies. I am trying to spend more time and effort on rendering. I hope to someday become a professional and work hard every day. This piece took more time to plan and sketch than it did to render. I am learning pre-production and planning is the key to good work.

Thanks for taking the time to look at my work!
