Description This was the third of this style drawing and after examining what I really enjoyed in my first two I combined them together and this is the result. This is my favorite of the first 3 drawings and the progression can be marked quite clearly. This combines images with meaning (taken from images in the band's songs) as well as the free flow of connected images where each pours into the next....the caribou's antler flowing into the mans hand, the man blows smoke into the air, the spiderweb in the smoke, the left edge of the smoke from the hookah forms the outline of a womans face....etc.

it really is impressive that this is freehand ink. the composition is eclectic and i dont see too much of a common thread through it but i dig it anyway.
How big is it? if i were a richer man id put it on my wall.

Its actually on a sheet of computer paper and drawn with a Pilot Precise pen. This was still kind of earlier on in my drawing in this style. After this one I got some good paper and pens, which I have used in later compositions

You style is a cross between the Dark Ages Black-Death Paintings and greyscale 1960s graphics. I have never seen anything like it and I do believe i'm in love.

Well...it took me quite a while to 'digest' your gallery...
It's not only that I've been busy... it's also that you put so much in here in so many different ways. Moreover, I'd feel like putting your work down with a quick comment, since this has obviously taken a lot of your time.
I chose to comment on EH, since it is not only your featdev, but also and mostly because I believe this to be the best piece in your gallery. Along w/ 'String Cheese Incident'.
To me the nicest feature here is [along with the de-materializing bubbly background on the left edge] the ghost holding the candle. That would include the dripping wax and the rose. The idea of putting the water pipe in the middle w/all the small hoses [is that what those thingys are called?] is great both on a conceptual level and on a compositional level. It truly is the piece. It spreads out like an octopus [a quattuorpus? LOL] and literally becomes everything. I guess it's hard to get more psychedelic than that
A good deal of symbolism is on display... the spider and its web...trees branches/rivers...the fish? There's so much cooking here that it'd take pages...
You already have shown good sketching qualities, and a good eye for proportions. And since you seem to well know how ink behaves, if you want to develop on this very graphic path, I'd say that what's left for you to do seems to be... to try to challenge your own ability to create a balanced composition [I'm talking exclusively of volumes/surfaces here] that still mantains the degree of freedom you obviously and also declaredly wish to achieve...
Good luck on your future work. I'll watch you...

thank you very much for taking the time to comment in such depth. I'm glad you like my work, and i appreciate the genuine feedback about it. I understand what you're sayin about bein busy....i've had ridiculous amounts of stuff to do lately so i havent been able to spend much time on DA, but hopefully when the summer rolls around i'll have a bit more time to reengage in the community. Thanks again for taking the time, i really appreciate it.
