Because the only Mega Yveltals I've seen don't look like true Mega Evolutions and more like redesigns. ALSO since giving ANY legendary Pokemon a mega is really broken (look at both Mewtwos, they both have higher stat totals than Arceus) there should really be a reason behind it. Fanmade in the title before people say OMG IS THIS REAL when it was stated before X and Y even released that no Kalos Pokemon would get megas.

Wanted a more Attack-based design because of reasons I'll put below and his classification as the Destruction Pokemon. If I were to draw Xerneas he'd look more tank-like but I can't draw the damn deer to begin with so I probably won't.

(Headcanon alert) Well, even though mega stones are held items in-game, you can only Mega Evolve once per battle. Since a Mega Ring is also needed, you equip the mega stone to the ring itself and can't change stones mid-battle (because using Mega Evolution puts a massive energy strain on both Trainer and Pokemon so doing two or more would probably kill the human trainer) BUT Xerneas and Yveltal can bypass this if 1.they are bonded to a trainer of their choice 2.said trainer is in extreme peril. Being legendaries they can use their own energy to Mega Evolve but it still isn't easy, hence the extreme circumstances needed.
