Description Day 1: Let's kick off the year with a view out of my living room window – if it wasn't all iced up, that is…
I used an add-on macro lens for this one (attached with a magnetic filter, since the RX100 doesn't have a filter thread) plus i've cropped into the photo, so the 24 mm focal length of the Exif info below isn't all that significant.

How's the sharpness hold up with the macro adaptor? I like the image, but I've been trying to work out if the DOF is at play (maybe the camera wasn't parallel with the glass?) or if you've cropped up into the corner.

...and here starts my own personal challenge to comment on all your photos

I have to add that i use a rather cheap macro/wide-angle adapter, on a camera that isn't made for add-on lenses. So a low quality result should be expected.

Oh, don't get me wrong! I don't necessarily think of such things as 'low quality' or in some negative way.

I could write at length on my standpoint, but I think basically, I'm anti-film snob, but pro film-like flawed digital.

No worries – neither do i.

Yeah, that sums you up nicely

Well, the sharpness is a bit of a mixed bag. In the centre of the photo it's perfectly fine, but it tends to lose sharpness towards the edges. Also, my aperture was set to f/5 (which is middle of the road for this camera), so obviously, when you set it to the minimum of f/11, it gets a bit better. I like to think i was pretty parellel here, but honestly can't remember. Obviously, you should try to, since the dof is pretty shallow with the macro lens, even at f/11; and as soon as you start zooming in, it gets insanely shallow.

Alright! And here's me trying to reply to all of your comments
