Hmm, well, I could state some tips that I use for myself when colouring lines:

Make sure the lines are darker than the colour touching it or it might look weird/distracting, even if it's just a small area, and don't make the line colours too similar to the colour inside of it or the lineart might be a bit hard to see (I used to do this a lot in my old drawings)
I mostly don't go straight for a darker shade of the colour I'm using, for example when something's yellow I might go for orange, red or even a darkish pink! I think this makes drawings stand out a bit more, and also a bit more colourful.
Most of the time when I colour lines I firstly use a dark colour (for example a dark purplish brown like I did on the lines of the hair in this drawing) and then I use more lighter colours and start filling things in, for example on the overalls/flowercrown
Don't be afraid to be a bit messy when colouring the lines! As you can probably tell I'm not very precise, either

I hope you could understand this since I'm pretty bad at explaining and overall, don't be afraid to try things out and see what works best for you!! ^^
