Thank you, I have heard of the book but not read it. I like how you said that though because it is a painting about how brief our time is here, even the planet, as the sun gets hotter and becomes a red giant and our neighbouring galaxy gets closer we can only watch as we slowly disappear. Their is a sad beauty in that I think. That's why I have the tiny figure of a man looking at the sky.

Never used oil paint before.
But it has a nice colour contrast.
And how the sun/moon is the same colour as the land

Thank you, oils are great to work with but can be annoying as you have to wait for them to dry before moving on to other parts of the painting sometimes, but you get great freedom and texture and I like how the paint flows.

Is it true that you can't use/wash the paintbrush when using oil?

Sometimes I get lazy and forget to wash them for a few days and end up destroying them, as they go rock hard and are never the same after.

So basically if you use use don't "wash" the brush.
It'll harden and you'll won't be able to use them anymore?

Pretty much, it take a few days though, you can restore them but never to the way they were, a lot of people are afraid to use them but they are really great and vivid.

And I do dislike the smell of oil paint

You wash them after, but with a rag and some white spirits you can rub them off on the fly, it is messy work though.

I once accidentally got oil paint on my hands by using the tap,
since the person before me had oil paint on her hands, and turned the tap on...LOL
My hands smelled for the rest of the day, not to mention I couldn't get the paint off....
(this was at school)

Yeah getting oil paint of your hands is a pain in the ass, sometimes I get tired and go to bed with out washing my hands and wake up with a multi coloured face because I touch my face in my sleep and the paint stays wet for days!
