This morning, I read that Nujabes passed away few weeks ago and the officials stated it just now. As a huge fan, like a lot of person I guess, this really makes me sad. He was 36 and acknowledged by most of the international hip hop community.He was certainly the artist who inspired me first and most to develop my art. So I did this as a tribute to him.

This drawing is the only one that I started and finished the same day. Inspiration and execution came naturally after reading the sad news.
I first browsed online for finding reference photos of Nujabes, then I just let go of my imagination trying to illustrate what his music was representing for me.

Nujabes is also a light of inspiration for me as an artist. Hope it isn't too late, but thank you for making this brilliant tribute.
One of my bucket lists, as an artist, is to make a tribute to everyone (in particular musicians & famous icons) who influenced my art in a big way, and Nujabes happens to be one of them. I'm set to make one for Nujabes and a tribute for another artist sometime this year, and if I finish it, then I'll upload it here on deviantArt.

I did it only has a tribute, and I was happy that it was chosen for being the poster of a concert tribute to Nujabes few years ago organized by musicians that used to work with Nujabes.

This man's music opened up a whole new world of possibilities for me. He got me to give Hip Hop a chance, and not judge it by the mainstream consumer trash. I am so in love with his beats, they helped me to get through so much, and to find peace in times of distress. This is a wonderful tribute to him, and his talent. I believe you have captured some of the essence of the beauty he spread through his music.

I've only recently discoverd his music so i decided to find out if he was touring.... only to find the bad news. Ive been feeling down all day now that i know he passed away. This drawing has made me feel alittle better and now i can't stop listening to his music.

It's funny how common this is amongst most of the fans I come across. I myself really got into him a couple weeks after he passed. Really surprising. Still, he left us with some really good tunes and about the only sad part is is that we can no longer witness his genius. I think the irony behind it all is that it's hard to be sad while listening to his music despite the sadness of his passing.
