The horses on the left need more work. They are still looking just a photograph. They need more airbrushing.

yes maybe, if I go over it to properly render it I´ll keep it in mind, just wanted the idea down and done and practice edge control, but thank you for the feedback^^

So hey, given this uses photobashing, a question. What is the legality of doing it? Like, in terms of getting the images, are they all free/paid stock ones?
I ask this, because I've seen some artists on youtube just go to google images and take pictures willy nilly.

this question pops up every now and then, and I guess it´s difficult getting one clear answer since countries work under different sorts of copyright etc.? But I´d say go for it, google is a tool, just like photographs, brushes, I think the most issues arise when you put money into the equation..just like making and selling very similar replications of an artwork there is a fuzzy line of what's considered okay and not. With photobashing, if it´s just for fun or something I never plan on making money off I use what ever images I find fitting, taking my own or googling, the core of photobashing compared to mattepainting (from what i´ve learned) is photobashing is supposed to be taking a bunch of photos then mixing them together to create something new, in the best of cases even if holding one of the used images side by side with the new art piece it should be hard to distinguish what´s been used at all. In swedish it´s called Verkshöjd, if you´ve been able to create something that isn´t easily replicated by anyone else, we also have the fair use, which means when learning or for studying purposes it´s okay to bypass certain copyright laws because the goal isn´t to create a product but to learn. Does that make sense? For example, going here on DA and taking a whole photo of a horse, masking out the background and taking some other background image then putting them together, that I wouldn´t call photobashing, but if you do that just to learn techniques, in my opinion, go ahead. If you instead take the front leg of a photo of one horse, the neck from another, a head from a third, maybe change the expression of it with warp/puppet warp to have the ears folded back and mouth open and paint in some teeth, the body from another image, maybe you blend three different backgrounds taking the foreground of one photo, the middle ground of another and then the background of a third, well now you´re photobashing, then when you paint it all over the result should be something new maybe a vision you started out with?
In general I think we need less restrictions on art, don´t worry about doing right or wrong when you´re learning, the whole internet witch hunt that seems to be trending on the hobbyist side just makes me a bit tired. Have fun, be creative, and if you mess up or someone feels wronged, just be alright to apologize and take an image down. I´m sorry this turned into a smaller novel of an answer XD

Personally, my issues with that arise from the fact that people still do want to control who uses their art and how.
Mind, using pictures for private/learning stuff isn't my issue. It is when people publically just take something from google willy nilly to a commission/monetized youtube speed draw.
My personal reason for being so strict with this comes from coming from a lot of RPs where people just grab a picture of artwork and use it without permission. Or REQUIRE you to get a photograph for a character, instead of using your own art.
