Description After Stanley and Gary's little intimate episode. Stanley decided to show Gary some pictures which his Nana gave him back before he could remember. Gary looked through them feeling both happy and a little homesick.

Stanley explained that he never really knew his parents, as they both vanished when he was a toddler, much like Mario and Luigi's parents. Gary saw the pictures and told Stanley that they must have loved him deeply, and that he knew they were probably looking down on him with pride and love.

Gary examined this photograph more, and Stanley explained that apparently both the Mario Bros and Stanley's parents were heroes of the Mushroom World and that Mario and Luigi decided to take up the path of the hero in honor of their late parents.

When Gary asked why Stanley didn't do the same thing, Stanley explained that though the path of the hero is a great thing, Stanley doesn't like the idea of hurting anyone and he figured he wouldn't have the nerve to do what the Mario Bros did, as well as Gary. Stanley also explained that this is why he and the Bros had a falling out, and why they don't speak anymore.

Nice, but Pauline isn't Mario's mother ! She used to be her girl friend before Princess Peach.

That isn't Mario she's with; that's Mario's father, Mario senior (aka Jumpman.) This picture's part of a gallery that's centered around some fanfiction I'm creating.

Wow, I like the way you drew their parents. And Stanley looks cute here. But poor Baby Luigi, he wants up and daddy's not paying attention!

Anyway, this looks really good. Keep it up!

There's a fair bit of info displayed in this one picture that conveys much about their family life as you can see. We get a hint that Mario might have been the only kid they wanted there...but you never know.

Did you make up the appearance for Mario and Luigi's parents, or did you get a ref?

Mario and Luigi's parents in the story are Mario(Jumpman) and Pauline. They're both canon characters and come from the early arcade Mario Games like Donkey Kong. Pauline was originally the chick Mario had to save from Donkey Kong. Over the years Nintendo did do some redrawings of Pauline and I used the latest one as a reference. Mario (Jumpman) is wearing his 8bit arcade outfit there, though I added the gloves.

Stanley's parents (Rosa and Tony) are completely made up, though I did use elements from the very earliest Luigi sprites in Tony's design, and Rosa is Jumpman's sister as she and Mario have a typically more (real world) Italian appearance than their kids.
