Alaric is a hot tempered stag who gets into fights easily and holds grudges forever. He tends to use force rather than try to think anything through. Suggest he has a short temper and he'll probably try to set you on fire. Sarcasm is his main method of communication and he rarely holds a serious conversation for longer than a moment or two, which can get him into some trouble. He appears to follow his older sister Aveline's instruction, but will quickly defy her if he thinks that he can get away with it [spoiler alert: he usually doesn't].
Despite these more.. questionable qualities Alaric still has a somewhat kind heart. While he'd never tell anyone, Alaric aspires to be a field medic and wants to prevent anyone from the pain he went through as a child. He's also secretly quite empathetic and has a weakness for the "odd-balls" of the herd such as those with dark coats or defects.
Special Notes/Quirks:Atheist: A stranger would never guess Alaric grew up in a very devout family. After the death of his parents, the buck decided there were no Gods, and if there were, they certainly didn’t deserve his devotion for destroying his life.
Illnesses/Long-Term Conditions:Kleptomania: Oooh pretty, shiny. Alaric has an uncontrollable urge to take items that don’t belong to him. It has been present since he was a young buck, and his sister was forced to deal with many angry herd members bursting through her glade looking for their trinkets. He often isn’t even aware of his actions until the deed is done, and will return them….sometimes.
Appearance: Alaric is an extremely tall and lithe stag, with long legs and lean muscle. He doesn't have much strength however, and tends to focus more on stamina and speed. His mane is somewhere between short to medium length and looks rather unkempt most times. He has random patches of scruff throughout his body, not caring enough to keep it neat. His parents would be proud as not a single blemish marks his perfect red coat, though with his violent tendencies its unknown how long that will last.

History: Alaric's story began long before he was even born. His parents were fawnhood friends who ended up falling for one another so deeply that they vowed to be one another's mate for eternity. For many years they tried for fawns with unfortunate results and after so many unsuccessful attempts they finally managed to have Alaric's older sister, Aveline. There was no happiness for the dark filly and the only reason they even kept her was because they were too kind to toss her aside. Hope was not lost for their perfect child however, and they still believed the gods would bless them. No love was in their relationship with the young filly, and when she was of age she left. Shortly after, the gods heard their prayers, and Alaric was born.
Alaric was everything the couple could hope for, with a fiery red coat and minimal markings to distract from its beauty. He quickly became his parents pride and joy, however, they couldn't help but notice the absence of their daughter. They felt guilty for their treatment of the dark filly and attempted to reach out and ask her to return and meet Alaric, but were quickly shut down by Aveline. Pyrrhus and Serafina still took Alaric to every show of their young fire dancer, and told him stories to the best of their abilities of his sister, hoping they would someday have the chance to be a family.
It seemed that life could only get better for the young fawn on his second year; he was blessed by the gods! His family adored him, he had many friends, and was already branching off from home to go explore with others. How wrong they were, as Alaric suddenly fell extremely ill. Suffering from Slipgut, many believed the slender fawn would not survive. Pyrrhus, distraught at the idea of losing his Little Prince set off on a dangerous mission, determined to bring back a rare herb that would help with Alaric's ailments. However, as days and soon weeks passed, Serafina watched as her precious son's condition got more severe, with no word from Pyrrhus and prayed to the gods above that her son would survive this. Just as she had given up hope, Alaric suddenly began to recover, slowly regaining his strength and some weight to his now frail frame. It was only a few days later that a couple guards arrived at their glade, bringing with them the devastating news of Pyrrhus's death. It seemed he had injured himself attempting to find the herb for Alaric and predators wandering by quickly took advantage of the stags weakness.
Serafina was devastated, her true love had died alone, and the only thing she had left in her heart was anger and hatred. She directed these feelings toward Alaric, blamed him for the death of Pyrrhus, for if he hadn't have been so ill the stag never would have left the glade that day. She became self-destructive, often times forgetting to eat, drink, or bathe and while Alaric attempted to help the doe only threw hateful words and other forms of abuse at him. A year later, on the anniversary of his father’s death, Alaric could not handle the abuse and blame from his mother any longer. He left the glade for a much needed break, and returned as the sun was touching the ground. He found his mother had passed, unable to live without her mate another day.
Alaric did not weep, he simply walked away from the glade, toward where he knew his sister resided. His mother's last words echoed in his mind, the blame she held for him being the one who truly killed his father, and began to believe it. He was now at fault for not one, but both of his parents deaths. When he reached his sisters glade he explained who he was and that their parents had died, but left out the nature of their demise, afraid he'd be rejected. While Aveline was not thrilled with Alaric staying in her home, she did not reject her brother, and Alaric has been residing with her ever since.
Thoughts On Others:Aveline | While he would never, ever, ever, ever say it aloud; Alaric loves his sister more than words can describe. She took him in when he had nothing, raised him, and cared for him. He owes the doe everything, and would lay his own life down in a heartbeat to protect her. But since explaining all that involves *shudder*feelings*shudder*, he just embraces his job as annoying little brother and bickers with her constantly. Its out of love though, totally.
Keziah | Alaric could not ask for a better son. He loves him fiercely, despite his unpleasing coat. The thought of the young fawn being left for dead by the nameless doe haunts his dreams. He blames himself, feels he should’ve been there to protect him, and refuses to make that mistake ever again. Due to this, Alaric can be quite overprotective, never letting his eyes stray too far from the small colt, and leveling any bullies with a glare that could set them on fire where they stand.
Dagonet | The doe saved his son’s life, and for that... He tolerates her. There is not currently much of a relationship between the two; having this situation awkwardly thrust upon them, they are still working out all the kinks. Alaric respects her as a fellow medic, and can tell she cares deeply for Keziah, so he’s willing to see where life leads their strange little family. Although he does tend to pick at her, it could simply be because of how eerily similar the two’s personalities are.
