Description Well, I just finished coloring this piece.

I know about the legs, no need to point that out. I might fix it if you need me to.

Also, I tried using the Dodge and Burn Tools for this pic...how do you like the results? Please tell me so I can decide whether to go back to the old way of shading things or not.

Do you guys think I was too ambitious on this piece? I wanted to show that I could improve.

Here is the original for comparison(will be scrapped): [link]

EDIT: Manually shaded the flat colors and shortened the extended leg. Also added a gradient background this time. Thanks for the feedback, and !

Hope you like it!

Those are some nice legs.

I can appreciate the charms of a strong woman.

Ahhh, superheroine then? Or perhaps darker motivations...

Both versions are nice. It's not necessary to scrap the other one, even if this version is notorius better.

The pose is nice and she's so stunning.

Its never really a good idea to rely on dodge and burn for all your highlighting and shading...Its best to do it manually . And I was gonna get on the anatomy but you seem to already know that you have a bit of an issue with that...so I'll just say drawing from real photographs could perhaps help you if you are having a problem with that.

Good luck .

I think the extended leg is long than the other, so I'll fix the lineart to try and make the leg shorter.

Thank you for your feedback. I still have the flat color version as well, so I'll try to fix the shading as well.

True, that was a problem. But I was actually looking at the way you drew her muscles on her legs. I understand that she's supposed to be a muscle woman, which is cool, but they look a bit unnatural. I'm not sure how to describe it in a way that wouldn't possibly be taken the wrong way >.>

But you're welcome. I had a lot of problems figuring out how to shade too and I used to use color burn and dodge for a little while. Then someone pointed out that the pictures looked like plastic and I was like CRAP, lol. So I understand. Its always good to experiment with the special effects of your software though, 'cause color dodge and burn can be used for a lot of other cool things .

Personally I find Dodge is great for highlights, but you should never use burn for primary shading, only for gradients after you've cel-shaded or whatever by yourself. Just my £0.02

OK, thank you. I have an unshaded draft. I'll avoid the burn tool this time.

It's just a suggestion, see whichever way you like best.
