Wes has got to stop lettingΒ Riker Β pick out his wardrobe. You'd think all the pats on the butt would be a clue.

TNG never should have done away with those dresses for men.
So many slash fiction ideas...

If I'd been in charge that's the only thing he'd ever wear. Even after the "skants" went away for everyone else.
Great idea!

I recall reading about the backstory for ST:TNG and it stated that the character of Wesley was originally going to be a girl named Leslie....so this kind of fits. XDΒ
I see I am not the only one that commented this, so I am glad I did recall this correctly.Β Β

Yeah, though technically the skant is meant to be unisex.Β Β

Oh I agree, but every time I saw it, it just looked too much like a dress to me. I recall my mom and I watching an episode once where we saw a guy walking in the backround wearing a skant and the first thing my mom said was "That guy's wearing a dress!"
My initial impression was that the producers did this as a joke to see if anyone would notice. Only years later did I realize he was wearing a skant.

From a modern perspective, I can kind of see why people make fun of the skant, but I think it was an interesting attempt to show how far gender equality had come since Captain Kirk's day.Β I dunno, maybe they would have worked better if guys had worn them with pants, like Dr. Pulaski did.

Well, the character was originally Leslie Crusher in the original TNG series bible.
