"By a route obscure and lonely,
Haunted by ill angels only,
Where an eidolon, who appears in the abandoned night,
In a black suit he reigns upright,
He has reached these lands but newly
From the fourth he knew truly—
A wild weird climate that lithe, sublime,
Out of space—out of time.

The Slenderman, a being darkly wise, and rudely great:
His skin so bleach dry with no sun to wait,
His head blank of expression and pale pale white,
There is no escape, he's always watching their fright,
With too much knowledge for the skeptic's side,
With too much weakness for the stoic's pride,
He hangs between; on doubt to act, or rest;
In doubt to deem himself a god, or a teratoid at best;
Tall, and lanky with limbs so narrow and shallow,
Hidden behind, long shadowy tendrils that follow,
He doubt his mind or body to prefer;
Born but to die, and reasoning but to err;
Alike in ignorance, his reason such,
Whether he thinks to little, or too much:
Children beware of his teleportation,
For his stolid apathy disrupts your mind's concentration;
Chaos of thought and passion, all confused;
For his captive kids by himself he abused;
Created half to rise, and half to fall;
Great lord of all things, yet predator to all;
Sole judge of truth, in endless error hurled
The glory, jest, and riddle of the world!
