At first glance, Clyde gives off the appearance of a withdrawn and unapproachable man. He bears what looks to be an intimidating figure and a natural glare, always seeming to be in a bad mood. He mainly keeps to himself, employed at his uncle's autoshop as a mechanic, and at the end of the day he returns to his small shack of a cabin where he spends the rest of his night repairing and refurbishing vintage automobiles. He is still fairly new in town, though he has never truly made the effort of meeting the residents of town outside of the ones he knows well. Because of this, people consider him to be a loner and overall unfriendly. This is only enforced by his irritable personality and tendency to yell.
Underneath his sharp exterior, however, Clyde is just a socially awkward man. He is quick to stress and embarrassment, therefore his natural instinct is to get angry and defensive, even verbally snapping at someone whether or not it is actually warranted. Being recently discharged from the military after being wounded, he still struggles with transitioning back into society and his worst fear is never being able to assimilate within Sunrene's community and being looked at as an outsider for the rest of his life. He wants to make friends, but he just mainly comes off as the town grouch, yelling at children to get away from his property.
To those that are especially close to Clyde, he is considered to be an extremely loyal and protective friend who values a hard day's work. He avoids talking to people while at the same time he has a hard time ignoring those who are in distress, though any attempt to comfort them normally goes south due to his awkwardness when trying to communicate as he normally just scares them away.

Clyde's childhood was just about as average as any other person's; he was an only-child growing up in a big city, with two loving parents and a rather sociable life. Early on in his life, he developed a deep interest in cars and bikes from his uncle who owned an autoshop in the country and often made trips to the city to visit his family. He enjoyed watching him work and learned fast at a young age. It became his dream to move out of the city and work together with his uncle at his garage.
Living in a large city had its disadvantages, however. As Clyde was fast approaching his teens, he had progressively become more unruly; the kids he had associated with had a terrible influence on his behavior. He had often gotten into trouble, frequently fought with his parents, and often went on joy rides late at night which had resulted with a run in with the police. The entire ordeal had caused his parents to be disappointed in him. Ultimately Clyde had decided to attempt at turning his life around, resulting in him enrolling in the military and leaving home.

Despite his past delinquency, Clyde felt a strange sense of belonging in the military. He excelled in combat and weapons proficiency, molding himself into a more disciplined and responsible young man. Some soldiers had considered him to be an overachiever and even a bit cocky at times, but nonetheless he had developed an strong kinship with his squad. Two of them in specific, Sawyer and Walker, had been his closest friends and he had become fiercely protective of them on the battlefield. His impeccable ability to cover his squad mates' blindspots earned him the recognition of his superiors and he found himself climbing ranks at an alarming rate.
But all good things weren't meant to last, and casualties were an inevitable part of being in the military. A firefight had resulted in Clyde being gravely injured when protecting Walker. But while he had managed to save one brother, his other, Sawyer, had passed away in battle. This had weighed Clyde's heart down intensely, feeling as if he had failed his friend and his entire squad. Due to his injuries, Clyde had been discharged from the military and sent back home to heal.

Clyde returned back to his home in the city where his mother and father had welcomed him back with open arms. He had managed to heal a considerable amount, he was deemed unfit to return back to the army as too much physical strain grieved his body with pain. Any job he had applied for that gave him any sense of familiarity; a firefighter, a cop, even a security guard... he was turned down for all of them due to his health. He had hit a roadblock; he felt completely useless as if he had lost his reason for being all while struggling with his past trauma.
After watching their son's strife, Clyde's parents had come to the conclusion that he would not be able to recover in the city. They got into contact with his uncle who had offered Clyde a job as a mechanic in the country. He hesitated at first, but Clyde was desperate for the work, and besides, he had acquaintances in the country; not only his uncle but also his friend in the military that he had saved, Walker.
He took this as a sign from fate; he had always wanted to leave the city. Maybe the country air would do him good. Packing what little he had, he left on his motorbike to Sunrene Valley.
