THIS is my favorite scene in the whole series!(except for any other S/U moment, of course) I've drawn it way too much. So true!

indeed i thought so as well until I read more information on the vulcan people as a race and species.
They do feel emotions, they were, originally far more emotional and thus corrupt than even the human race until, I belive it was Spock's great, great grandfather who was the one who started thhe idea of 'the strongest emotion and pleasure is that of being able to control ones emotions'.
Now, the Pon Far is one time a vulcan can o longer control their emotions and rages, in someway a release of keeping things bottled up for so long, of course it is a violent time due to the long periods in between. After all if you have seen the show there is a point when due to virus Spock can no longer control his emotions and breaks down into a fit of tears. I belive music, being such an emotional thing, would be a bit of a way to releave ones self of emotional stress.
Forgive me, I am getting far to in depth...I think I have been watching far tooo much star trek as it were. ^^ Forgive my blabbering.

I thought that Spock was the only Vulcan to feel strong emotions, because of his human mother. And that human side is what caused his break down in the virus thing. I knew other vulcans felt at least a little emotion, but not as much as people. Also I see a flaw in their logic that controlling emotions prevents crime. Sometimes people are just plain crazy and don't need emotions to do bad things. For instance, your icon is Sepheroth right? Now, I don't know much about him, but from what I've seen, he seems like the kind of guy that can kill just for the heck of it, and not feel a thing. Also, I do love vulcans and all, but I've always thought that their lack of emotions makes them all kinda seem like a bunch of bastards.
The Pon Far and music thing does make sense though.

Well it is a misconseptions that Vulcans do not feel any type of strong emotions. Yes Spock, is at a disadvantage when following in the 'proper' path of the Vulcans, by controling his emotinos. After all, being half human he would have the urge to express himself through emotions. But now, Vulcans are in fact more emotional that Humans, proving that their will is extremely strong since they can control them. But Spock's father said, that the reason he married Amanda (spocks mother) is because he loved her, and normally Vulcans do not marry out of love, but rather out of need, since they usually only marry (the person they've been engaged with since birth) once they've entered their first pon farr, this was not so with Spock's father, proving that Amanda could bring about emotions in him. If you would like to read what I've read, where i've learned all of this please let me know and i"ll hunt down the link for you.
(and yes I agree most Vulcans do come off as bastards and times)...(And I suppose yes, Sephiroth does kill without feeling much of anything but bliss, but that's due to the fact he is mentally insane and believes himself a god over man and to be a much higher being due to beling his mother is a blue alien thing. o.o talk about odd.)

Oh I get it. Vulcans do feel strong emotions, they're just much better at controlling them than people. Spock can't control them as much because of his mom. That makes sense.
Lol Sepheroths story sounds pretty weird.
But does what I said about emotions not always being the cause of crime make sense?

Yes it does, after all, some crimes are planned out logically, with no trace of emotion at all, while others are extremely emotional acts, so yes, you made perfect sense. ^^
