This is really well done. Looking back on it, this scene somewhat forshadows what Homura does in Rebellion. I sometimes feel that people don't understand that what Homura did made sense since her being taken away by Madoka wouldn't have stopped the Incubators from trying to start up the witch concept again and try and control Madoka.

I remember how much my mind was blown when I realized after watching Madoka Rebellion, that this scene WAS in fact Homura's transformation into a witch so it made the story make that much more sense.

Awesome! This scene takes on a whole new meaning after Rebellion..... Personally, I believe the final scene for the tv show is a sped up version of what happened in Rebellion, in which Homura fights the wraiths, fails and also gets captured by kyubey, falls into sorrow, then takes the power for herself from Madokami. Really great artwork!

I'm not sure if you know this but in Portable, Homura's wings are called "black wings of corrosion" and it's also one of her powerful attacks that can be usable outside story mode or even before reaching the anime ending if you're lucky

This is probably one of the best pictures of Homura's wings that I've ever seen. The attention to detail is just astonishing.
I never really thought they were Witch wings, though... in my opinion, they were a visual cue that in the time that scene takes place, Homura has powers way beyond any normal Puella Magi, becoming something like a demigoddess... or maybe they're a representation of how she's essentially a walking paradox in the post-Ascension timeline.Β Maybe Rebellion hinted at a Witch connection, but I haven't seen it yet and I didn't see anything in the synopsis about it... oh well. That's what headcanon is for. XD

Oh, there's definitely going to be either another movie or another anime series. Like I said, I haven't seen Rebellion yet myself, but from what I hear about it, they can't end the story where they did.
