I don't think he did any conversions on these ships. Why do you ask?

Ah! Now I remember. Yes, wmwconnors (now "abacreative") DID do these conversion, but only because he had a trial version of Max to export with. We all took turns making the most of the 30 day Max trials to do exports for each other.
Anyway, yes - an OBJ can be loaded into DAZ Studio, if that's what you're asking?

Very nice. I've always liked the early Starfleet Museum stuff, he really knows how to come up with designs that are original yet fit with the setting. While you've come up with some very nice pictures based on them.

I'm glad you like them and honored because you held them in such high esteem.
I really like your lighting setups. Can you please teach me, give me some pointers?

I'm always happy to help, Dave. If you can get specific it could help? In general my space based lighting setups are fairly simple - about 4-5 lights. Also I'm using DAZ Studio so I'm not sure how well my technique would translate to Max, but I'm happy to spill my guts in the attempt to inform. Maybe grab one of my pieces as an example and start there with questions?

Multiple lights, then, I see. What intensity do they have. Do all of them cast shadows?

RobCaswell In reply to thefirstfleet [2011-05-23 23:00:46 +0000 UTC]
Well there's one shadow-casting, high intensity light coming from the direction of the sun. Another shadow casting light (medium blue) comes in from the left to add some rim light coloring. Then I have one or two fill lights (non shadow casting - colored very pale mauve) shining up from different angles on the ships' bottoms. So not too complex. The sun itself is just a postworked lens flare.

Arcass,.. knowing you... it will be a long while before you put these D. Metlesits' models away.
You just love your "spaceship toys" too much.

Dude... of course they're historical! They're, like, so last century!
And here. Give me that marker back!
You can play with this tube of modeling glue, instead.
