Any chance of getting deckplans for this design?

Don't Droyne scouts look like a SFB Tholian Pinwheel? Β That is three isosceles triangles joined together at the base?

What do the flaps o neither side of the cockpit window do?

RobCaswell In reply to Blue-Jedi [2014-11-25 19:30:10 +0000 UTC]

Well no one had really imaged a Droyne scout when I did this. Maybe the ship shapes you're talking about came in through the Steve Jackson Games products?

Not sure what "flaps" you're talking about... and I'm not sure I'd even remember

Blinders then.

I can't remember if it was in the Gurps or GDW Alien Module that I saw the Droyne scout ... probably the Gurps book.

Another classic design.

Well... it's classic in age, but this is the only time this ship appeared anywhere. It wasn't really an "established" design.

Very cool Love the sleekness of it

I thought they nailed it above when someone said it looks like a hair-trimmer

hehe true true... ironic since the Droyne have no hair

Actually like the pencil doodle better. Just comes off with more detail....

...Could I convince you to render that one like this? Or as a fan art bit could I?

Y'know it's funny but I'd forgotten there was any difference between the two? I agree. I like my sketch concept better. I wonder why I changed it? Or maybe I drew the sketch second? I've made my own artistic-archeology puzzle!!

Thank you. I'm glad it appeals to your honed "alien design sense"!

It does, it makes me want to try harder to draw my own too

oh!
I recognize that ship!
This is just without the smiley!
But I am not going to tell you at what the design is reminding me today!

Oh, c'mon! Lay it on me! A hair comb? A pair of tweezers? A bottle opener???

LmAnt In reply to RobCaswell [2013-01-24 16:08:13 +0000 UTC]

well...
I see some mixture of my epi-lady and a taser. Which makes sense somehow as they both hurt. The one less the one a bit more

you've asked for it, right?

RobCaswell In reply to LmAnt [2013-01-24 16:32:06 +0000 UTC]

I did ask - thank you!!!

caesar120 [2013-01-23 20:09:48 +0000 UTC]

This is a great design, Rob. I seem to gravitate towards designs that look biologically based. This particular ship reminds me of a cuttlefish!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RobCaswell In reply to caesar120 [2013-01-23 20:28:07 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, those curvy bio-shapes can be fun with starships. I always enjoyed designing Aslan ships for that very reason.

I didn't really do many Aslan... at least not that made it to final print.
