The boys of winter
like sad tigers,
build frozen zoos beneath
my rib cage.
Keeping the pale woman
in cold and hungry
captivity.
Sometimes I have trouble
seeing her due to the camouflage
of her winter coat
or because she is obliterated by the turbulence
of blizzards.
On her snowy skin I often
find the wild tracks of
unseen animals
