ps: try to do a bitmap scan (400 dpi) and then turn in into grayscale (turnin' to 300 dpi), then it should give you only a smooth b/w without any brush/marker sign...

thanks and for some reason the mustek scanner I have doest seem to have a Bit map option. unless its been hiding from me all these years.
