Description 'When we approached the settlement, we noticed that it wasn't a settlement at all. It was a boot camp.

And it was full of troops...'

"Sheesh, Grant, are you still reading those old war stories?" I looked up from my reading sheet, facing my fellow squad mate who had disturbed my reading. "Well, Farukh, some of us like to be prepared." Farukh looked at me, quite taken aback. "Are you kidding? It's been more than 200 years since we've last seen the Urkradach. For all we know we dealt them such a hard blow on Hades that they simply packed up and left to somewhere. They just knew that if they didn't leave, we'd destroy them for what they did on Agamemnon and all the other planets!"

I sighed.

"You're so naive! They didn't just leave. They.... ."

"ATTENTION! Officer on deck!"

The call disturbed the argument that was about to break out between myself and Farukh, and we all snapped to attention, as our commanding officer entered our company's billet.

Again, I had a look at Colonel Maier. I had to admit he was an imposing figure. Tall, muscular, with a bald head and a face that looked as hard as spaceship armour. You could make the mistake of thinking of him as one of those hardass officers who can do anything, pass any mission and are beloved and respected by all their man...

Well, he sure was a hardass.

"... so we will be deployed on Dark Land, to try and quell that conflict there." Farukh poked me, and I started to pay attention to what our 'glorious leader' was saying. Sounded like one of those boring nanny missions. Go to a planet and take the toys away from all parties concerned. I have to say, sometimes I wished for the Urks to return... Sure, we, as a race, faced extinction, but at least we were united in our efforts to survive. We would have had none of that bickering and infighting.

I'd really grown tired of it.

Well, there was nothing I alone could do about it. Apart from following my orders, of course.

Having missed almost all of the briefing - which was now over, and Maier gone again - I turned to Farukh. "So, what's it going to be?" "Go ddamnit, Grant. Why don't you ever pay attention to Maier? We're to ship in to Dark Land at 0600 tomorrow. Go down there and stop the fighting." I smiled at Farukh. "It sounds so easy when you say it." Farukh rolled his eyes, turned around and was on his way to the armoury to get his equipment checked. I thought that was a good idea and followed him.

Done in PMG 0.6.

It looks a bit like the Magnum, but it wasn't inspired by it.
