In Korea, August 15 is an important day in modern history -- National Liberation Day, commemorating the day in 1945 that Japan announced it would surrender to the Allies at the end of World War II and abandon its imperial claims to Asia and the Pacific. On that day, 35 years of colonial occupation ended. Here are a couple of pictures of Jeonju's Pungnammun Gate decorated with Korean flags that I felt like sharing for the occasion.
