Antaria-Nova suggested to ask Chris Kaula [link] for the name of this funny insect, so he told me, the German name is WOLLSCHWΓ„RMER ...

Never seen one of THOSE before.

No idea what it's called, but it might be a sort of flower-fly or whatever they're called in english.
(no, I don't mean a bee or hornet.)

Nice shot indeed.

looks big on the pic but actually its half as big as a bee, thatΒ΄s probably the reason why one doesnΒ΄t see them. However it makes a loud and strange noise, thatΒ΄s how I discovered it.

Right.

Funny little buzzer.

Maybe you could ask another photographer that question, as I've noted he seems to know a good deal of critters.

You can check it up in the conversations.

You said something like wollschwΓ€rmer or something.
Wool-swarmer?
*shrugs*
Clothe-eating things? or do they like the flowers of the wool-plants or something?

I wasn't referring to moths.
And as a detail, it's *furry.
No offence.
