Selina Kyle is Catwoman, a costumed adventurer who's been both a super-hero and super-villain. Beginning her career as a thief and enemy to Batman, she later turned into a sometimes hero, pairing with Batman and others to rescue kidnap victims, bust up human trafficking rings, and intercept both drugs and weapons. Despite her villainous nature, she works hard to protect Old Gotham.

Selina Kyle's early life was defined by tragedy. When she was just a girl, her brutalized mother Maria committed suicide and her violent father Brian drank himself to death soon after. Selina was separated from her younger sister Maggie when remanded to the Spring Hall Juvenile Detention Center, an abusive state home for orphaned or delinquent girls.

Eventually, she escaped the Center and tried pickpocketing the crowd at a carnival outside Gotham City but failed. She was caught by the man who ran the place and he offered her to join the carnival. Selina agreed and soon she learned the art of contortionism, gymnastics, magic and trickery. Using her new learned skills, Selina also improved her pickpocketing skills. When the owner of the carnival died in a tragic accident, Selina decided to take her chances on the streets of Gotham.

Selina started out as a prostitute working in the Old Gotham. She watched over an underage girl named Holly Robinson while working for their abusive pimp Stan. Detective George Flannery sent her to Ted Grant, who taught her how to fight after Stan beat her up. When she saw Batman in action for the first time, he inspired her to become Catwoman. Selina returned the beating Stan gave her and took Holly with her. To distinguish herself, she would claw the faces of her victims starting with Carmine Falcone, a local mob boss.

Stan kidnapped her sister Maggie Kyle which led to his death when fighting Catwoman as he stumbled off the edge of a ill-maintained fire escape. Batman confronted her about this, but she simply kissed him before wounding his chest, allowing her to flee. Holly was left with the nun Maggie to be raised in a convent and has been well protected, along with the nuns, but Catwoman.

With Stan dead, Catwoman switched 'careers' and started burglary and theft as her trade. She was drawn mostly to jewely, gemstones, and any cat-themed prize, such as the Lion's Eye cabochon or the cat-headed burial urn of Seti I.

After five years of thieving as Catwoman, Selina ran afoul of enough people that her apartment was found out and blown up. This required her to seek shelter with her fence and old friend Lola MacIntire, along with a new job. In between trysts with the Batman, with whom she had a love-hate relationship, Catwoman attempted an art theft, but upon her return to Lola's apartment, she found her friend had been murdered by Bane. She attempted to get revenge, but Batman intervened. Dejected, she returned to Lola's apartment, burned all evidence linking her real identity to her friend, and resolved not to let herself get too attached to anyone again. Unfortunately, the police caught her doing it. Fortunately, though, Selina escaped.

At Lola's funeral, she encountered her old friend Gwen Altamont - another fence. Much as she enjoyed seeing her again, she didn't want Gwen to face the same fate by allying with her. While trying to steal the money from a large drug deal, Catwoman garnered the attention of Det. Carlos Alvarez of the Gotham City Police Department, who met resistance from his superiors in his attempts to link her to certain robberies.
When the police intercepted her sooner than expected and arrested her, Selina deduced that they were behind the drug deal. Alvarez discovered that his corrupt coworkers were torturing Selina in secret, and allowed her to go free, after which she reluctantly went to Gwen for help.

Selina purchased a nightclub for extra income, calling it the Tin Roof Club. When she stole a priceless brooch and hid it with Holly, she began taking heat from other criminals. Upon visiting Holly in New Jersey to collect it, Holly's house exploded. Holly died in Selina's arms. Selina figured out that Holly's husband Arthur killed her so he could keep the brooch. Flannery helped Catwoman frame Holly's husband for murder, and he was sent to prison. Selina sold the nightclub shortly after and moved out of Old Gotham entirely, setting her sights on a different sort of prize.
With the money she made from the Club, Selina set herself up in a three-story apartment and went into business stealing high-priced items for a very hefty finder's fee. Busy with Bane and Scarecrow, as well as Clayface and Joker, Batman had to let the lesser crimes of theft go unattended, and soon Selina had enough to found her own business.

During the day, Selina is the head of a organization that provides catering, locations, and other needs for charity banquets, dinner, costume balls, and other such events for the elite of Gotham. With all those riches laid out before her, she occasionally pulls a slight of hand and someone's necklace or bracelett goes missing. But the income she makes from her 'party planning' business keeps her living VERY well, and she doesn't have to steal at all to maintain her affluent life-style. Currently, she's been seen flirting with Bruce Wayne. Whether she's after his wallet or a wedding ring, no one can say.

Catwoman's status as hero or villain was always fluid. She had her own moral code and had occasionally teamed up with Batman and other heroes against greater threats. She representes a gray area in Batman's otherwise black and white life where the line between good and evil blurred, and his attraction to her stems from the perception that, in her own way, she's a female version of himself: another dark creature that prowls the night.

Abilities:

Acrobatics:
Selina is a gifted and accomplished athlete, with heightened acrobatic prowess. Her feats have been so amazing, one could argue that her athletic ability is somewhat superhuman. Dick Grayson has proven to be one of her only betters.

Martial Arts:
She was trained by the Armless Master in martial arts and by Wildcat in boxing and street-fighting. She is a dangerous, clever and resourceful fighter, known for precise, agile attacks and speedy getaways. Her formidable hand-to-hand combat skills are augmented by her cat-like speed, reflexes, balance, and flexibility. Catwoman has mastered the following martial arts styles: Boxing, Capoeira, Hapkido, Jujutsu, Dragon Style Kung Fu, and Karate.

Stealth:
Selina is as stealthy as any large cat. She has easily been able to sneak up on large groups of people and even other vigilantes on patrol. She shows marked prowess in this ability while she's on the prowl for her next job.

Thievery:
Selina is a master thief, known throughout Gotham City for her burglary of cat-themed objects and/or gems and jewels of the highest quality. Hardly one to knock over a bank, Catwoman would rather break into the chairman's office and take his personal documents.

Disguise:
To pull off her many capers, Catwoman resorts to disguises and aliases. She once posed as an old lady in order to steal a valuable piece of jewelry while on a cruise ship. Later, she posed as a night club goer in order to get acquainted with it's owners and return later to rob them.

Feline Empathy:
Catwoman has a strong affinity for cats. Feline species tend to flock to her, accepting her almost immediately, recognizing somehow that she is not an enemy but a friend. This allows her to calm injured cats, train them, befriend them, and form strong bonds with them. These animals will even sometimes come to her defense when she is attacked. This has proved most beneficial, especially when it has involved big cats.

Strength level:
Catwoman possesses the peak human strength level of a woman her age, size and weight, in addition who engages in intensive regular exercise and combat training. Catwoman is capable of pressing up to twice her own weight (270 lbs). She is capable of swinging uninjured with a grapple or whip.

Catwoman Costume:
The skintight costume features retractable razor-sharp claws in her gloves and spring-action climbing pitons in her boots. Catwoman's costume is designed to give her maximum flexibility and movement while providing her some anonymity, and stealth. Her mask covers her features, keeping her from instant recognition in her civilian identity. The material is a thick insulating cloth, protecting her from cold and wet, while being fire retardant.

Motorcycle:
Catwoman occasionally uses a motorcycle for long-distance transportation, but generally prefers rooftop prowling for short distances.

Claws:
Catwoman's gloves and boots contain special retractable claws which are formed of a strong steel which extend from and retract into her gloved fingertips and boots when she triggers pressure switches. They can shred a bullet-proof vest, punch through an aluminum frame car door, or dig into porous surfaces to climb. Her claws are strong enough to get through Batman's costume and armor. Batman has deduced they are diamond-tipped.

Whip:
Catwoman is highly proficient in the use of the bullwhip. She employs a 12 foot long, black leather braided bullwhip which is normally carried on her person either in her boot or in a small backpack.

There is a large amount of circumstantial evidence that Selina Kyle is the biological daughter of Carmine and Louisa Falcone, Carmine being a local mob-boss -- enough evidence that Kyle herself believes it. However, it has never been conclusively proven.

It's no wonder you had to take your time with this one. She's a complex lady with a lot of backstory. Perfect foil for Batman. He wants her and yet he hates her criminality. That schism in his mind and heart has to compromise his usually implacable intolerance for villainy of any kind. The feline form is perfect for her as she has every cat-like attribute both physical and mental. This bio certainly helps make her and Bruce's relationship in the Panthra stories much more intriguing and sexy.

And in my story, Selina and Bruce have a complicated relationship, while Catwoman is occasionally nailing Batman without knowing he and Bruce are the same man.

I like what you've done with them in your version of the DCverse. Adds a nice set of complications to your Bruce's life.
