Totally random collaboration with my reallife friend !
Mystic drew Stian – the well-known white guy – and I drew my black female character Yava. Both are ‘cheederians’ ; Mystics fantasy feline species; a huge Oriental cat-tiger-lynx hybrid. Mystic moved out of country (to Norway) 1.5 years ago, so we sadly don’t see each other so often anymore. Only a few times per year for a couple of days or weeks. I visited her in her new home this summer (1 to 13 August), and Mystic wanted to give me a tutorial about how she draws. We decided to turn it into a ‘tutorial collaboration’. We came with a random idea to draw our main characters in a dynamic pose to study the anatomy as well. Then we drew ‘parallel’ – every phase, so we got nearly everything the same. Since we didn’t plan a background initially the characters don’t blend perfectly in the background. We had chosen a simple background, the same as in Yavas character sheet, but Mystic decided that the background needed more details and thus it became a bit difficult to match the background and the characters... Anyway, I really like how the background turned out to be something nice snowy cold with birds and mountains and typically Stian and Yava nonetheless!
