The Firefly cast are wonderful subjects for portraits, there's just so much character to try to capture. I have a Firefly related piece I'd like to paint, so this a selection of the character sketches from photo reference I've been sketching for practise.Sketches with a quick multiply wash in Photoshop

Nicely done. I like Shepherd Book and Jayne in particular. I'm working on sketches of the Firefly crew as well, I'm going to try and get them all in one piece like this when I'm done too.

ALL OF MY LOVE. I would say you captured Mal and River the best, and Enara seems to be the furthest off. GOD I LOVE EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THESE CHARACTERS. I'm particularly fond of the one with Jayne pointing his gun, and Kaylee looking shocked, though they're both a TAD uncanny valley. but hey, its practice, and those two grabbed me first. Sultry Zoey is sultry too. <3

I like the style. They aren't 100% similar to the characters from the show/movie, yet they are still instantly recognizable.
