let's see . . .
@ age 5: orphaned clingy brat who's whole world involved her brother and herself. would bite/kick anyone who came close to her brother and her. a year later, they would be picked up by a no-nonsense gruff but soft teddy bear blacksmith.
@ age 13: cheerful, outgoing tomboy who gets into fights with the neighborhood bullies/boys/girls/whomever dares insults her or her family. will wear dresses if asked to by older sister-like friend otherwise will never wear them 'cause it gets tangled everywhere. <--no feminine grace.
@ age 17: tragedy strikes a year earlier when the village she stays for the half of the year (other half is with her brother at another town) is destroyed, herself raped, blinded, and left for dead. there's betrayal from a close family friend and so she stews and resents for a good year before tragedy strikes again.
@ age 25: no family members left, a couple of friends she trusts, currently hiring herself as a mercernary/assassin. has a strong sense of scorn and dislike towards people but her friends try to keep her civil. oh yes, that resentment is still brewing strong.

probably makes no sense but to me, it does. hahahaha . . .
