I wish Luke would not be a depressed hermit, but a witty Jedi Master with a sarcastic sense of humor and some neat Jedi tricks

I might be overthinking it, but this looks pretty symbolistic. This trio reminds me of the Ones in the Clone Wars. Is Luke supposed to be like the Father, the balance between the Darkness and the Light?Β

This was my vision of what the balance in the Last Jedi would be β obviously I was wrong about Luke.Β
Luke's role was a disappointment for me, I visioned him as an adventurous old man with a sarcastic sense of humour.

Yeah, but would an adventurous old man have shut himself off on an island on some backwater planet? As for the sarcastic sense of humour, I think they got that right.

Luke was an adventurous old man in the end of the movie β like Iβd preferred to see him all the time in the movie. But still, it was quite clever from the director to show him like what he had become and what he could have been.
About the backwater planet β we didnβt actually know how desolate the island was. Luke could have had his ship still available, and there could have been more activity than the caregivers and the porgs. I liked to think that it would be Luke whoβll bring Kylo and Rey together.

He shows up for less than five minutes. Too soon to tell how he's going to go about this with Rey. And the reason behind his self-imposed exile is understandable. Even the strong have moments of weakness. That's what makes us human. Can't be strong all the time.

Well, like the saying goes, "depression isn't because you're weak, it's because you've been strong for too long", which fits Luke really well. He went through a lot and it finally broke him.
