What have these children discovered, playing by the lake in the woods? Could this really be a person standing over there by the shore? Or is it just the low sun playing a trick on their eyes?
On a holiday last year I came upon a small fish lake while wandering around with a friend. A storm was gathering and so one half of the lake lay in dark clouds and one half in beautiful golden autumn light. It was this magical atmosphere, that inspired me to paint this picture.
This painting was done with:

I absolutely love the colours used here and it's a very endearing style that reminds me of the illustrations in the books I read as a kid

And thank you very much for that compliment. Childrens books illustrations mostly recall a feeling of comfort and nice memories. If I could acieve that with my painting, I'm happy.

Scanning my paintings never worked out for me too. At least my scanner always made a mess of the rough structure of watercolour paper resulting in a foggy fuzzy something. ^^° ... and it eats all the colours, like you said. That's why I only take pictures.

My camera doesn't like pictures too, so
I scan...but if really needed I take a photo.

I always take my smartphone-cam and the light of a cloudy day (because direct sunlight is evil and atificial light is evil too for my cam ^^°). That works most of the time.

Well, I do 1000 settings and in proper light too, but it's never the way I want it to be
For posting on Instagram and small thumbs it's ok, but for bigger sizes I don't like it.
