Description A sketch of the goblin king from Labyrinth, played by David Bowie. It looks nothing like David Bowie, I know, but I did try. Most of my art has just been sketchy lately, but I'll try to make a finished picture.

I agree..... he doesn't look like like Bowie, but is pretty handsome anyway though his smile makes me think of Howl from "howl's moving castle" usually people describes jareth as snering, or grinning...

Yeah, Jareth smirks, but I just wanted to draw him smiling. Thank you so much for reviewing and fav-ing!

Really? This was more a spur of the moment "OMG I really like Bowie in that movie MUST DRAW" thing...I wasn't really trying to achieve anything great with it, it was just a sketch.

Wow! I'm so happy - everyone seems to think it actually looks like Bowie! Yay! I tried so hard, but I thought I failed miserably! Thanks so much! It's not the best movie, it's just got gorgeous-ful Bowie.

Best hair ever. Like foserious. Its like, 80s-scene chic. lol.

I agree with everyone else when I say that I think you did very well in the sense that it does actually look like him. Congrats to you.

I think I've made a big mistake, showing you that movie....

rikustears In reply to InsaneFrog05 [2007-07-25 05:26:58 +0000 UTC]

You HAVE made a big mistake by showing me that movie.

I'm so jealous of his hair...seriously. It's so much gorgeous-er than I could ever hope for my hair to be.

And thank you! It was pretty much impossible to try and make it actually look like the guy, and the face isn't edged enough, but it's not my style to make edgy pictures.

*resists urge to make lame pun*

It was a horrid mistake. Dude I hope you're still on, it says this comment is 45 minutes old but I just now got it. I've been refreshing every minute...dA must be down. goddamn.

Don't we all wish we had 80s-scene chic hair.

OH YEAH! You said, 'it's not my style to make edgy pictures.', and that could mean you don't like making angular pictures or you don't make risque pictures. Yeah, shoot me now kthnxbye.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

rikustears In reply to InsaneFrog05 [2007-07-27 04:44:20 +0000 UTC]

No, it's not the risque pictures I have a problem with, it's the angular ones. I don't like those. I won't draw sharp edges if I can help it.

I KNOW THAT!

I was making a lame pun. Shoot me. GOSH. Why don't you LOVE ME emoemo.

Sharp edges=baaaad news. I like your nice smooth art style. It purdy.

rikustears In reply to InsaneFrog05 [2007-07-27 04:48:16 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! Digital art bugs me because, while I can add a heckuva lot more depth to my pictures, I can't blend the colors as well as I'd like to. It pisses me off...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

InsaneFrog05 In reply to rikustears [2007-07-27 04:50:02 +0000 UTC]

Blending is a wonderful thing. I can understand why you'd want to do that more.

It sounds nerdy but usually when you get me a picture I'll go look at it after you leave and wonder how the hell you turn those simple colors into the bootifulness.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

rikustears In reply to InsaneFrog05 [2007-07-27 04:53:21 +0000 UTC]

I don't really use that many colors in my pieces, I just try and blend them accordingly. Seriously, I'll use maybe five to seven colors in a picture total.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

InsaneFrog05 In reply to rikustears [2007-07-27 04:58:23 +0000 UTC]

Which is why its so amazing! I don't understand how you do it! Like your skin tones! Don't you use cool colors like purple and blue? That's so cool..that you can use those and know how to use them in the right amounts so it looks good. Wow.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

rikustears In reply to InsaneFrog05 [2007-07-27 07:53:19 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I use purples and reds and blues in my skin tones. It balances out all the peach and makes it look more like actual skin. Because skin is more pinkish-red than any other color. It's not just plain peach like people usually think it is.

InsaneFrog05 In reply to rikustears [2007-08-01 04:35:59 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I guess I just sit there and look at people so much that I notice this stuff. And that's just how I translate things - into colors and shapes. I guess other people probably see things a lot differently.

Wolfyu [2007-07-25 04:39:30 +0000 UTC]

Haha, I recognized him and I've yet to see the movie. That hair is utterly, utterly 80's, and it makes me happy.

rikustears In reply to Wolfyu [2007-07-25 05:27:36 +0000 UTC]

Honestly, it's not a good movie, and I wouldn't waste your time watching it. The only good part about it is the David Bowie and his gorgeous hair.

Goddess-In-Green [2007-07-25 02:30:22 +0000 UTC]

I wouldn't be stepping out of bounds if I proclaimed how sexy he is? I hope not, because... you made him so. <333

rikustears In reply to Goddess-In-Green [2007-07-25 04:16:07 +0000 UTC]

I thought he was the most drop-dead sexy thing in all of 80's filmography when I watched the movie a couple days ago, so no, not stepping out of bounds at all. And thank you so much! I tried to make it actually look like David Bowie, but meh. At least I got the hair.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Goddess-In-Green In reply to rikustears [2007-07-25 23:58:24 +0000 UTC]

Sadly, I've never seen the Labyrinth. I want to though... You're most welcome! I think you made him even sexier. And the hair's ever prettier than he is. Lol! Just kidding, just kidding.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

rikustears In reply to Goddess-In-Green [2007-07-26 15:56:59 +0000 UTC]

The hair was honestly the main thing I focused on in the picture, because that's my favorite part of Bowie's Labyrinth getup.

Seriously, it's really not worth watching much except for the David Bowie bits. He's just about my favorite 80's movie thing ever. It's got a couple of fun Bowie songs, and one uber-gay one (not just the term, it literally should have a gay pride flag pasted on the title).

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Goddess-In-Green In reply to rikustears [2007-07-27 17:59:48 +0000 UTC]

Well, it certainly shows! The whole pic is fantastic, but the hair is definitely what stands out.

Ahh. Well still, I'd probably only watch it for the David Bowie bits. LOL. Oh really? What's it called, I may have to look that up.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

rikustears In reply to Goddess-In-Green [2007-08-01 01:47:18 +0000 UTC]

The gay song is called "Magic Dance". I like the song called "Within You".

Goddess-In-Green In reply to rikustears [2007-08-01 02:04:33 +0000 UTC]

...LOL. I have that song, and I must agree. It is very, very gay indeed. Within You, though, I'll have to look up.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

rikustears In reply to Goddess-In-Green [2007-08-01 04:40:52 +0000 UTC]

Just wait until you see it with the video attached. Even gayer. Lol. It makes me laugh every time I see it. Within You just makes me happy. Especially with the video attached. They're in some awesome Escher-esque stair room where David Bowie, like, defies gravity or something.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Goddess-In-Green In reply to rikustears [2007-08-02 01:45:12 +0000 UTC]

Lol. Ohhh my, and here I was under the illusion nothing could get gayer. Hehe. Oooh, defying gravity... I wish I could, some days. That would make getting places so much easier.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

rikustears In reply to Goddess-In-Green [2007-08-02 11:52:24 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, it's awesome. He'll be under the main character's flight of stairs, and then reach the end and flip upwards to be on her flight. It'd be a mildly terrifying boss battle, I've determined. THAT is why it isn't a video game.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Goddess-In-Green In reply to rikustears [2007-08-02 23:32:22 +0000 UTC]

Lol! That, at least to me, is vaguely reminiscent of something Xigbar could/would pull. Or something you'd find on a Resident Evil video game.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

rikustears In reply to Goddess-In-Green [2007-08-03 17:13:26 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, Xigbar's totally creepy enough to randomly do that. It'd freak the hell outta me, though!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Goddess-In-Green In reply to rikustears [2007-08-06 01:30:05 +0000 UTC]

For real! Here you are, piloting Sora through the seemingly endless flights of stairs in The Castle That Never Was, when suddenly... "Heeeeeeere's Xiggy!"

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

rikustears In reply to Goddess-In-Green [2007-08-06 16:01:05 +0000 UTC]

Oh dear God! I'd probably scream, cry, and then laugh myself into an aneurism.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Goddess-In-Green In reply to rikustears [2007-08-06 18:53:22 +0000 UTC]

Lol! Amen to that... And half the people who are playing this game end up in the hospital because of that, and then that stirs up a controversy... It just wouldn't end well with Xigbar defying gravity to scare you. ("I smell a U.N. crisis~")
