To be fair, Melmetal lost to a legendary with more experience in battle than it. Plus it managed to weaken it enough to be beaten easily. It made sense that it'd go down against Silvally but for its first fight evolved, it did good and made a difference. Otherwise, it could've been another Tobias fight.

at the very least (unlike the Tobias fight) it didn't go down with 1-2 hits

If the next series goes where i'm hopping it does, then ash might participate in the Champion's league mentioned god knows how long ago Diamond and Pearl came out.
Granted, we don't know what it even is about, but it might be a place for pokemon champions from across the world coming together to see who is the pokemon master, given we know that all regions will be in the new anime. And given some league champions in the past are ash's rivals, this could give ash a chance to fight and beat them once and for all.
He might finally get his victory from Alain.
This is just hopefull dreaming though.

I never understood the hate for the Sun & Moon anime. It arguably captures the spirit of the world of pokemon the best. I enjoyed this series being a Slice of life series. Each of ash's pokemon has something to love.
The league was official, they started with a battle royale with over 100 trainers fighting at once. How's not that a big challenge for Ash?

Yep Sun&Moon is my favorite series as of now. People probably put Alola League on low level because most alolan trainer are not battler and newbies like Lilie and Mallow could get into the main tournament, completely forgetting about Ilima. While he's not Alain level, Ilima is a damn big name there. Veteran and capable trainer competing in Kalos League with Mega Stone and Z-Ring? Definitely a steal. And he's not even the strongest in this league and yet Ash still wins. This Ash is the Ash at the end of XY and even more. The league is fine, just like other leagues without gym. There's just no OP character like Tobias and Alain so he can finally win.

It is as if an enormous burden was finally lifted from our shoulders and seeing what had unfolded after so long. Sun and Moon has been an absolutely amazing trip and I was glad to give the benefit of the doubt on its first day. This was a truly heartwarming and awesome moment for not only Ash, but for all of us. From the new fans to those that have been here since the 90's.
You've done a spectacular job with this art and it captures how we're all feeling. Thank you.

Thank you! I was there from the 90's too! Can't believe that I was still in grade school younger than him when I saw him lose for the first time and be a fully grown adult when he won. The excitement is unbelievable lol

It sure seems like we've all came a so long ways since the 90s! It's like a nice chapter of our lives with what we grew up came to a satisfying conclusion! But yeah haha, you and me both on being in grade school so young to like, now. The overall excitement may of simmered down a bit since yesterday, but it still feels highly great and almost surreal still! Thank you again for making this!

Thank you! I wish to see his room again and have a sight of his Alola League trophy in there. It may not an official league, but the Orange League trophy lined with his other achievements at the end of BW was still impressive and I can't wait to see it in one shot with his new trophy (and his Kalos League gold medal).

Yes! RotomDex is practically my favorite new character in this series. That thing is Arceus-sent. I hope he'll still tag along with Ash from now on, even if by a chance his story won't be told again in the new series. XD

He is! And hopefully, Rotom would switch to a Galar smartphone if it remained... That'd be cute and fun to watch :"D

I'm happy that Ash won the Alola League. While he won Orange League way back, this win was through other challengers and I feel like all of his Pokemon got a chance to shine. I don't mind what happened in Ash vs Hau, Melmetal losing to Silvally or other acts of BS fans have against this series and version of Ash. My ten year old loser is now a winner by the shallow standards of the community and NO ONE will tell me otherwise!
Also nice picture!

Thank you! A win is a win and I think it's well earned. I mean, Rowlet winning against Decidueye was not the first time his basic winning against their fully evolved form. And Melmetal VS Silvally is basically barely no experience mythical VS fully trained legendary. I never think he's a loser no mater anyone said ;D

DnMStarsi In reply to Rikulaw [2019-09-16 09:18:00 +0000 UTC]
I agree. Rowlet ain't the first time a pokemon defeated their fully evolved form (Lt. Surge anyone?), wearing his cloak wasn't "cheating" given the avoidance of the Z Move and sleeping is not the same as unable to battle despite what the Indigo League said. As for Melmetal, not only was it inexperienced but for its first bout, it did a good job against a legendary that was pretty weaken after their fight. It made a difference with that fight.
Also Torracat and Lycanroc did great with their fights and have shown improvement throughout this easy going series.
As for the loser bit, honestly I was referencing a scene in the original series where Gary wrote on a sign that said Ash was a loser. LOL
