Description i always try to be positive with my 'art' (loosely called), and with this piece i can 100% postively say, i do not like this.

i am only posting it to ask if anyone can help me with reds, pinks etc.. mine always come out way to saturated and no matter how much post-work i do on them, i can't get them right.. so if anybody has any tips or suggestions, i would be very happy to hear them.

i know. but that is nearly always the case, don't you find.. a piece not liked by the 'artist' is nealry always more popular than something they are proud are of..
but, thanks, Jenn.. i really appreciate your wonderful comment..

I know what you mean ... pinkish or red - that is sooooo hard

I like your pic though
I kind of worked out that lightning is very important when you make that shot - they way you capture the light falling upon the petals ...
Hard ...

I can't help you out...but do think the color here is good. Not too saturated. Then again, I'm working from the laptop. It tends to brighten things up a little.

PenelopeT [2008-04-24 22:10:05 +0000 UTC]

I think it's nice Rik... and if you really want to play with the colors then use your channels pallete or the channel mixer...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RickHaigh In reply to PenelopeT [2008-04-29 12:44:04 +0000 UTC]

thank you Penelope..i never thought of using channel mixer, i used saturation and contrasts and curves, but i will give that a try next time, as i have a shots of this plant i liked..

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

PenelopeT In reply to RickHaigh [2008-04-29 19:49:10 +0000 UTC]

channel mixer is fun to play with I think and you can get different results than with levels and curves

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RickHaigh In reply to PenelopeT [2008-04-29 20:22:45 +0000 UTC]

cool, thanks Pen, i will give it a try.. i usually only use it for quick monochrome conversions..

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

Zoodar [2008-04-24 22:05:40 +0000 UTC]

Well, this isn't magenta. This is more purple. Try to make it slightly brighter (levels or curves), reduce the saturation a little and make the hue a bit more "red"... Hope that helps.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RickHaigh In reply to Zoodar [2008-04-25 07:31:00 +0000 UTC]

it didn't actually come out the colour of the flower. it is way deeper than this in reality, i think the sunlight on it made it brighter, then my editing to try and de-saturate it a little.. i played with all those things, but, i guess my 'colour problem' doesn't help.

but, thanks Pat.. appreciate the advice.

midnightshadow131 [2008-04-24 21:44:54 +0000 UTC]

i actually like this one TT_TT but if i was changing the colour.. then as i suck and only use picassa, the colour tempreature goes first to warm then to dark and that takes out the heavy saturation... then maybe a filtered b&w... ¬_¬ again... i only use picassa and have noooo idea how real stuff works... TT_TT so i guess i won't be much help...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RickHaigh In reply to midnightshadow131 [2008-05-01 08:02:09 +0000 UTC]

thank you muchly, hun..glad you like the picture and also thanks for the suggestions..actually might be a big help,.. umm, slightly desaturate then convert to b&w on a new layer.. hmm, idea laready forming,, thanks..
