Description Lake Ontario from a Toronto beach. A simple shot but I like the alignment of the people's heads with the horizon.

I agree, nearly empty beaches are great.

It was cold! I was all bundled up but my Canadian friend was bare-headed, I didn't understand it

Hey --I used to live in' the Beach ' or 'The Beaches' ---- ( there has always been a big fight among the residents over
the 'proper' name -- silly - but true )   -- Managed a framing store in The Beaches for several years ( Queen St west ) -- a poster of this
boathouse was our big seller ! -----. Many years ago this area went 'upscale ' big-time ------ it totally lost the 'small town' feel it once had .

I know about "the Beach" vs. "the Beaches"! Very good friends live on Hambly Ave. They've lived there more than 40 years. I was visiting them last month - speaking of upscale, they were telling me how high the house prices are there now

Toronto prices are ridiculous ( truly ) - a detached average
house goes for around a million $ . When I managed 'The Artery'
--- the rent went from 600 to 1200 ( around 1985 ) -- it was take it or leave it !
Same thing happened to 'Yorkville' -which went from a 60's equivalent of a
Haight /Ashbury  ----to a totally upscale area ever since - 'Swanky' and boring ! Guess it's a syndrome
-the creative people that make an area the 'in ' spot in town - the artists , poets ,  musicians ,
antique stores , music venues , etc --- that MADE the neighborhood in the first place --can no longer afford to
live there --- up go the rents - out go the artists  . At least I caught the tail end of both these areas .

Money follows creativity and drives it away. Funny process.
