Description Paper collage on cardboard, about 9 x 9 inches. A little wider than my scanner, so the image is not quite square.

Funny , this reminds me the works of one of my finnish friends - He paints them , but use of color is similar , and use of everyday
items like the chair , and how the human figure is done .

RichardLeach In reply to 7markus7 [2014-05-03 21:09:08 +0000 UTC]

I think there are various aesthetic streams flowing all the time and different artists can step into the same one, in their own ways.

ThatΒ΄s true . In this case it was unexpectable to find the connection between two artists styles anyway .

I love your exploration of form/shape and composition!
Even more when you add figurative and abstract in one piece...it feels "stranging" and makes me wonder about it!
Thank you!

I can hear Randy Newman singing "you can leave your hat on, you can leave your hat on....."

Excellent work.

RichardLeach In reply to TheMadMulatto [2011-04-17 00:01:21 +0000 UTC]

Thanks, ML. I can see that... it isn't my intention, not exactly. I'm dealing with rhythms and forms rather than concepts, and the shape of sadness and happiness can be the same - so the piece is open to be read in the way that each viewer needs/wants/chances to see it. Sadness is a definite possibility.

Yep. I saw this wafting in all directions but liked the sad part the best.
Nice work, babe. LOVE it.

Awwww, shucks! I'm really happy to hear that too - the beginning of this piece came fast, but then I had to coax it along for several days. Delightful to hear that it worked

Thanks. That's right, I usually use flat images. But sometime yesterday I thought, "I want a chair." I looked around - there was one lying on the floor.
