Hey, thanks so much. This one seems to be the preferred of
the two I submitted. I still wonder about adding the moth; it was
an eternity ago....

There is a book by photographer Jo Whaley called "Theater of Insects" that I keep on hand at all times for inspiration. Your image reminds me of the type of work she would do, and is just as impressive and inspirational to me. I like the way you have put this together. It makes me want to experiment and play.

I googled her book and clicked on IMAGES.
Thanks, Yvette. You win the "YOU'VE MADE MY DAY" contest...with your glowing and inspirational comments.
Best regards:
Richard
Where does she find all those beautiful butterflies? Natural History Museums?

I just looked up her acknowledgements in the back of the book, where she thanks "Ron Cauble, Entomologist and owner of The Bone Room, Berkeley, CA, where many of my specimens were acquired". I was surprised to read that, because I have heard of the Bone Room, although I have not had the opportunity to visit it yet (except online). I may have to rectify that soon.

Thanks for getting back. IF you ever get to Seattle, you will be in seventh heaven when you visit the
Burke Museum of Natural History. Probably more bones, animal skulls etc etc but still fascinating. I normally
don't gravitate to using museums for butterflies; I guess I'd rather shoot them in their own environment.
And WOW, that's not so easy. The moth you see in this submission, was so busy sending out pheramones (sp?)
to attract a male, that she did not notice me. Very cooperative. ANY WAY, THANKS Yvette for chatting.
I really appreciate it...
Hugs from Dick G
