✿ Pʀᴏғɪʟᴇ ✿
Name: Amemoto, Iori [飴本 糸織 ] (last name, first name)
Birthdate: Fall, 20
Age: 16
Height/Weight: 162cm, 54kg
Nickname: Io (goes by this most of the time), Iorin
Gender: Female
Nationality: Japanese
Year: First Year
Class: N/A
Zodiac/Core: Cetus, Amber
✿ Aʙɪʟɪᴛʏ✿
Coeur: Wool Spinner
Description: Io has the ability to create a woolly substance from her fingertips (though technically it originates from underneath the nail). It's created when she hits her nails together and then spun out by her twisting her hand in a whisk-like fashion. The wool originates as strings but can be woven into a bigger pad of cotton with some effort. The longer she spins her hand, the more she's able to weave the wool, and thus, the more durable and fluffy it gets. When she stops weaving it with her hand, it gets released. It's pink and somewhat sweet-smelling, much like cotton candy, only stronger. She can manipulate its shape with her free hand. Her Coeur is very dependent on her hands; if she clicks her nails and does nothing with either hand, a few strands of wool will basically just drop to the floor.
Type: Manipulation
Forte: Support
Contrecoeur:
- Io has to keep up the hand motion if she wants to create wool of any worth, otherwise it'll just pathetically fall to the floor. The gesture strains her hand and if she keeps it up for too long, she may get tendonitis or some other form of long-term wrist pain. Not just due to the gesture, but to the Coeur itself. This also means she has to take good care of her hands and wrists, even when not using it. Warm-ups and exercise are basically a must.
- The more she spins, the dizzier she can get later on, too, resulting in jelly legs, general lightheadedness (sometimes ending in her giggling helplessly to perhaps the annoyance of some) and wooziness. She'll often confuse left for right and forget most everything and that's if she's not just outright falling to the ground.
- She can only control her own wool. Manipulating the fibres of someone else's clothes is a no-go.
- Her wool loosens with time and, unless she supplements a woolly surface with more wool, it'll weaken and deflate after about half an hour. Thus when making bigger and softer surfaces, she often has to keep adding more wool to it or risk the surface weakening and collapsing in on itself.
Limiter/Inhibitor:
Status Points: Skills: - Wool Whip (Support) - Io manipulates her wool into a rope, weaving continously until it's tight and strong enough to do what it's meant to do. This can be used as rope or be thrown at someone like a lasso. This type of wool is thicker and tight, braided together with tighter strands rather than spread evenly. [COST: 1 ST]
- Sponge Bedding (Defense) - Rather than manipulate the wool into a shape, the key here is just continous weaving to make it as large and soft as possible. Used to break falls or generally be used as a shield. Since wool is naturally flame-resistant and a good absorber of water, it can also provide a temporary shelter for such elements. (Wool can still be, of course, set on fire and it's only a bit absorbent; a torrent of water will still drench it plenty.) [COST: 4 ST]
- Sticky Topping (Support) Iori's wool takes on an adhesive quality, and can be used to bind or trap things. This is primarily a choice, added to either her Wool Whip or Sponge Bedding skills she's always had. It is primarily used to keep a firmer hold of people when she lassos them but it can also be used to bandage or close up open holes and wounds, by binding it in place. However, it will continue to stick and possibly clling to the body unless Iori removes the sticky effect later. It's important she does so, otherwise, outside of fire, it likely won't break off. The longer the stick is in place, the more difficult it becomes later on. [COST: 2 ST]
- Sticky Filling (Defense) Basically acts as a band-aid, very sticky and will slowly (but it IS slow) repair skin so one won't bleed out. It has a sweet smell attached to it which is vaguely soothing. [COST: 4 ST]
- Candy Connection (Support) Unlike most of her skills, Iori has learned this one does not need the constant hand gesture, outside of the initial conception. She makes a small ring of wool and then cuts it with her other hand. If this ring is worn on a person's wrist and fixed to one of her fingers (on the non cutting hand) she can later track the original ring made. As long as the ring on her finger and the ring on the wrist isn't cut, she'll be able to naturally know where the other person is, not visually, just how to get to them, by instinct. She can do this for each finger she has, so five times in total, but it is a lot more of a strain on her, dizzying, the more she's keeping track of. [COST: 3 ST]

+ Optimistic, profound, open-minded, fearless
"If a person doesn't make a mistake once or twice, isn't that very scary?"
Meeting Iori is less like meeting a person and more experiencing an alien lifeform for the first time.
She's a person off in her own world, living life at her own odd pace that either goes slowly or breakneck with little inbetween. She takes most things as a positive, figuring that if her bus was late, maybe the bus driver was in the middle of a rescue mission or if its raining then, heck, maybe that's a sign she should buy a new umbrella. It doesn't really matter to her whether that's true or not or how farfetched it is, life is more interesting like that, and she finds you get less annoyed when you put it into that perspective. This optimism gets to ridiculous proportions when she can even make getting punched in the face sound good by saying 'it was a new experience'. She is energetic and fearless; embarrassment doesn't slow her down because it doesn't exist. She could look danger in the eye and laugh. She's quite handy in a crisis in this right, as she can keep a cool head and has a soothing demeanour. Despite usually being quite ridiculous in her actions and word choices, there are moments when Io is quite profound and shows a wisdom that might suggest she's not as dumb as she always acts. Her optimism is certainly a part of her but to write her off as childish or stupid might be a mistake. She likes to offer advice, help and share the things she knows. It takes patience to get used to her antics and decipher her words but she has some interesting things to say every now and again. And she's, at the very least, self-aware about her own social shortcomings. She wants to live a life without regrets so she tries to live in a way that makes her content. A little laziness is key to being happy, she finds.
= Eccentric, unpredictable, adventurous, curious
"Some people might call me old-fashioned, but... to me, there's absolutely nothing cuter than hickory for a cabinet! The smooth finish... the blond tones! You can't beat it!"
The sort of person to always keep you on your toes, Iori is... unconventional, in a word.
She's a little out of tune compared to most people, from outdated word choices to made-up metaphors. She often calls things 'cute' even if they're hammers or the rock structures of a mountain and frequently uses onomatopoeia in normal conversation (e.g. 'that's a kirakira way of thinking!'). Io often takes wild leaps in logic and forgets about what's appropriate all the time. When she wants something, she goes for it with all her might, consequences be damned, and asks a ton of unrestrained questions if something interests her. She's very honest and true to her own desires. Physical interactions come naturally to her - hugs and even gentle punches; she both gives and appreciates these physical interactions in turn. Io is usually in a cheerful mood and doesn't always react in the 'right way', as it were, the sort of person with no sensitivity or grief at a funeral. She finds it hard to be understood a lot of the time, because of her incomprehensible actions and reactions. Io can get into a vague mood where she'll seem a little melancholic or lost in thought; there's no real trigger for it, just a mood that encompasses her. During times like these, she may not notice people at first or the world around her. She's really the sort of person you always have to keep an eye on else she'll get into trouble someway, somehow. She's also the sort of person who'd wake you up at 4AM to see a meteor shower; how irritating you'd find that varies from person to person, one supposes. Predicting her thought processes or what she's going to do next is extremely difficult, because she leaves no hints.
- Impulsive, stubborn, single-minded, tactless
"You know when you just have to do something and you don't know why? ... Well! I just have to do this and I don't know why!"
Io is a person ruled by her whims.
She acts purely on gut instinct and bulldozes on ahead with that and that alone. She rarely pays attention to what rules have been set in place nor what others say. Because she is not ruled by convention, she acts on her heart, and it's 50-50 whether that works out or not. Io refuses to make plans and very rarely follows them, either. She naturally clashes with authority, not out of malice, but out of her need to be free. What's more, if something pops into her head, 9 times out of 10 she'll just blurt it out even if it's something awful like 'youre wearing an ugly skirt'; to make matters worse, she'll probably say it with a big grin too. Her social cluelessness seems to have no end. One's fearlessness can be good but Io often just seems to have no sense of danger at all. She doesn't always know when to cut her losses or stop doing something because she just can't sense a risk, when something's just too much for her. Her impulsiveness drives her to her own exhaustion without her even realizing it; she can hurt herself and others by being so short-sighted. Since she's out of step with most people, she can't always understand social cues and has trouble with people who won't be direct with her. She may act literally at times or just miss the point altogether. At times, even she gets a bit frustrated by her overly positive but muted emotional state (not being able to emote grief, jealousy or anger well) and has trouble connecting with other. She's even surprised when she's able to display these qualities. Still, she can't quite seem to change. Despite being smart at times, she's scatter-brained and disorganized, going with the flow so much that she ends up in a lot of sticky situations. Despite being on the nosy side in regards to others, when it comes to her own matters, she's always unsure of what's a valid thought and what isn't - what's right and what's wrong. She either overshares casually or keeps it to herself, with again, no real inbetween.
She is best described as someone who is good at seeing the bigger picture but still gets dragged by her whims in the now.
✿ Bɪᴏɢʀᴀᴘʜʏ ✿
TLDR: Discovered her powers at age 9 but was undocumented due to her father being someone else. Stress caused her to doze off in her bike and get into a month-long coma. After waking up and rehabilitating, she went to Shinnou Academy, the details having been worked out while she was asleep. Io met and dated Hibiki, which went stormily, but the two remain friends. She now lives with her single father, attending the academy properly.
To put it kindly, Iori's mother was a bit of a flirt. A woman who 'loves love a little too much' in her words, she moved from man to man as she pleased, just to keep up with her addiction. She met and married many men but divorced within a year, tops. She couldn't help herself; she just fell in love too easily. Gentle and mousy night bus driver Mamoru didn't fit in with her usual sorts so this time she was sure it was real love. He felt blessed such a beautiful woman would care for him. They married, and for a time, were happy, especially when she gave birth. But like a leopard unable to change its spots, Io's mother was unable to curb her bad habit. Io was, apparently, a noisy baby, and her mother would do many things to be out of the house, as the child stressed her out. She never received a lot of love and attention from her mother due to this and with her father often busy with work (either sleeping during the day or working the night), she mostly kept to herself. Io was determined to prove she was useful and quickly took to tasks like cleaning, cooking and even looking after her own messes, learning to stitch toys back together and re-align shelves she'd bumped into or knocked out of place. She'd hoped having good grades and being responsible would earn her praise and for the most part, it did. This inspired her to keep going. She often forewent friendships and hobbies in order to better her studies and keep up with house duties. She wanted to be a 'good child'.
She was about 9 when she noticed her mother's habits herself. Sending her to the store to 'treat herself' and giving her things to get her out of the house. As a bright child, it didn't take her too long to figure out what was going on. Since there'd always been some emotional distance there, she didn't really know how to handle it so she buried herself even more in studies, though stress was building up. At 11, something incredible happened. She'd dropped some books on the floor and her nails had accidentally clicked together... before she knew it, a few wiggly strands of wool had popped out from her fingers! The sensation was too weird to write off so she tried it again and, sure enough, it happened again, wool appearing, and then landing pathetically like silly string. She was a User. When she'd gotten over the excitement, a sense of dread crept in. As she recalled, both of her parents weren't Users. Did that mean someone far down the family tree was? She wanted to ask but there was a certain doubt. The sneaking worry that maybe the reason her father worked so much is because he didn't like her... maybe that meant... they weren't related. She had never really looked like her father, after all. Io tried to keep this fear on the downlow and perhaps look into her family matters but a child is a child and can only cover up so much. The next few days came quickly. She barely had time to figure out her Coeur and what it meant.
One early morning she overheard an argument between her parents. The subject matter... well, it was what she was always feared. And what she'd always feared was right. Her real father was someone else. Her mother had never really wanted to raise a child; the cries of a baby unnerved her and parenting was too much responsibility. On some days, she just couldn't take it. This gave Iori a weighty sense of guilt; that her noisy cries and selfishness had hurt her mother and possibly ruined the family. A fear of abandonment kept Io studying. She had to hurry up and become independent or she'd have no skills if she did lose everything. Her coeur didn't even matter to her anymore; she forgot about it entirely. Days later, perhaps predictably after arguments continued, her mother just left. There were some packed bags but no official notice. Days passed. Her mother showed no sign of returning.
Io had overworked herself so much that she'd stopped taking care of herself and she ended up dozing off on her bike. She woke up in a snap when she almost collided with a car but in her haste, slammed right into a phone box instead. Everything ended up happening very fast. Apparently she'd tried using her Coeur but it didn't quite cushion her. She had no idea how to use it or what it really was, after all. She was in a coma several months before waking up and needed some time to rehabilitate before anything else. Her father had stayed by her side the whole time. It didn't matter that they weren't blood-related; they were family. Io never heard from her mother again; apparently her father had tried calling her but she never picked up. She abandoned her hospitalized daughter and husband - likely found another man and went off elsewhere. Io's Coeur had been undocumented (but had apparently come from her birth father's side of the family) and, while she slept, her father was able to talk it over with a staff member who'd arrived, sadly, after the incident. When she recovered, it was decided she'd go to Shinnou Academy officially. During her hospitalization, Io did some soul-searching. Now that she knew she had a home and nothing to worry about, she wanted to go out and enjoy youth the way she should've. But she wasn't exactly sure how to do that anymore. She didn't know what movies were good or what clothes people considered trendy. Her father was similarily clueless in this field. Even so, she made it her goal to enjoy herself from here on out describing her month-long coma as 'her death'... kind of. Rehabilitation took several more months, retraining her leg muscles and practicing speech as she kind of slurred words for a while. When her health was cleared, she left, and arrived somewhere after her 12th birthday. There were some concerns about her health, both physical and mental, despite being cleared to go, and she was encouraged to get used to the island before anything else. Io ended up attending class properly when middle school began.
Middle school is also where she first met Hibiki Amamiya. They became fast friends and something more within weeks. In Io's eyes, he was princely and cool. The compliments came easily and she liked being around him; it was comfortable to not have to worry about being out of touch or odd. While the whirlwind romance was a lot of fun it quickly became clear they were both very inexperienced and a lot of things went south. Io couldn't always read Hibiki's emotions or the mood; her own cluelessness and his anxiety about who he really was collided in the worst way and they broke up. It took time for things to heal but the two eventually became good friends, a bond that persists to this day.

Trivia:
- She's passionate about DIY furniture and loves to craft. It goes hand in hand with her love of customization in general.
- She's also fond of baking and origami. She has a dream to make a cake castle but her structures keep collapsing.
- Io made a note of the day she crashed; the 28th of Summer. On that day, she, you could say, honours it by wearing her hair down without an accessory. If you ask her about it, apparently she's 'celebrating her funeral'. She jokes that it's pretty lucky she can do that.
- And on that note, she rarely wears her hair down or without adornments. It's a rare thing that puts her in a daze or a sombre mood.
- The sort of person who can watch an AV with a straight face but blush when she sees an antique grandfather clock.
- Takes horoscopes pretty seriously.
- She has a hedgehog called Napoleon. Her father got it out of fear she might not make any friends in her new environment.
- She never learned how to swim.
- There's a scar above her heart and just underneath her collarbone from the crash.
- She calls superficial friendships 'phone charm friendships', referring to how people like to match phone straps. She doesn't mean it as a bad thing, though. She figures most friendships start out superficial.
- Her hair is quite fluffy and soft.
- Surprisingly, she's on the busty side.
- Apparently cooking helps her think. She has a bad habit of making a full table of food for no real reason, just because she was zoning out. She often tries to get others to eat with her or partake because of this.
- Can be forgetful and, thus, often carries a marker with her. If it's something important, she writes it down on her palm or forearm.
- Carries around a notebook called her 'Mission Statement '. It contains a lot of her goals for a 'sparkling youth'.

Mamoru Amemoto:
"If you find the next Mrs. Amemoto, you've got to tell me! I can help, I swear! I know all your good points! Hey-- dad, no... dad, listen... I'm not meddling!"
Io's father. Mamoru is a clumsy man, uselessly tall as he doesn't seem to know what to do with his own height. He's very awkward and is prone to social anxiety. He's bad at dealing with conflict but is sincere in his feelings; it took her a while to trust him but now that she does, she's never been happier. Io wants him to find happiness one day and sometimes meddles in his affairs. She gives him a ton of scares and makes him worry endlessly but he cares for her dearly. They're an awkward pair, but a close pair.
Rihito Norikado:
"That can't... possibly be real happiness."
Iori's blood father. It's a complicated affair.
Suzuhito Norikado:

Iori's half-brother.
