Description Captain Fluffclaw looks different every time I draw her. Phooey.

Useless facts about her;

Her full name and title in Dutch, the language I'm writing the story in, is Johanna Stella Marina 'Flufklauw' (last name undecided). Planning on deriving her last name from a real pirate. The middle name 'Stella' is a subtle reference to her first iteration, where she wasn't even a pirate yet and named that, in an extremely not-subtle nod to Over The Hedge, my favourite movie at that time. Marina, is not only one of my own middle names, but also refers to the sea. She's a pirate, duh. Stella Marina can refer to a sea star, too. As for Johanna, it just sounds pretty and old-fashioned.

She's not very feminine-looking. This is inspired by the fact that two of the most well-known female pirates, Ann Bonny and Mary Read, dressed as males. On top of that, I tried to make her look like an actual skunk instead of going with a more commonly-accepted design for a cartoon skunk.

I wonder how many soccer moms I'll tick off? Fluffclaw actually fancies ladies more than she fancies lads.

Despite being a skunk, I unusually enough avoid stink jokes. While this could lead to some interesting/amusing situations, it's a bit of a cliché. The idea of Fluffclaw being a skunk pirate is that as a pirate, everyone's afraid of you. Same goes for a skunk. You'd think that a pirate skunk would be on top of the world, right? Wrong. Fluffclaw gets thrown out of her own ship. Stuff happens. Yeah.

Uh-oh. Is she going to spray?

Though a ruthless pirate, Captain Fluffclaw still has a pirate code which dictates that any animal on board shall not use their natural defenses in combat.

Nothing is said about her natural defenses, though.

So I don't know!

*Giggles* Well one could argue that she is included because it says "no animal." But it's her code, she can break it. I notice it also says "on board."

Cool and useful facts I say. Your character is pretty awesome for being the way she is.

Nothing wrong with being more feral like.  Fitting for a pirate too.

Love her full name and all the info you gave on her.

Yeah, it's nice to not use the whole "skunk's stinks all the time" cliché. A few skunk jokes or someone getting skunk by accident  it's ok and funny from time to time but only if it's not overused or shoved down people's throats so I agree with you here.

I wasn't that big on Over the Hedge but I did love some of the characters, especially Estella.

Bah, who cares what soccer moms think? Ain't no shame in that.

Thanks! And yeah, honestly, in the entire book, not once Fluffclaw sprays anyone, not even on accident. As a pirate, she's really good at supressing her fears and instincts. Either way, she's much more skilled with her sword. Other critters do assume she would use her natural defense mechanism, but she deems it primitive.

If it wasn't for Stella, I probs wouldn't have written my story in the first place. Long story, really. |D

Definitely. And this is the Netherlands, where everyone's a bit more lenient about everything. So yeah, I'm good!

I'll see skunks more like the gangsters of tiny critters, but I get your point.
Yes, every time you draw her, every time she looks different. xD
I like this one though, well done.

You're welcome.
No worries, it took me years until I was happy with two specific characters of my story as well.

I love the facts and the art you did here! I really enjoy your Fluffclaw concepts!

Haha, yeah, she seems rather ticked off. No wonder, she's a grumpy pirate. |D

Yeah, it was my favourite movie. For some reason. Now I think it's... kinda meh, honestly

Thanks. :3
