Uhm... what's with the way the sword is being held? Is it just an awkward angle? Or is it attached to her hand? Or is she unsheathing it? I need answers!

That's a fourth hand position, typically used to seem threatening and to gauge distance between yourself and an opponent. When you draw the sword, you automatically begin in this position, and though you can fight like that, it isn't recommended. Most likely she's just drawn the weapon and is preparing a stance, much like the mage behind her is readying a spell.

I don't see a hilt, which means that it's easier to hold it loosely at that angle. I think this looks freaking sweet, very nice!

Dude, why be mean? You showed that you have a superior explanation for why the swords-woman is holding her sword at that angle. And you say nerd like it's a bad thing, when you're commenting on some straight up fantasy art, which is the domain of nerds. Your explanation was well written and thought out, and yet you devolve into net speak to try and attack me for slightly bad reasoning. If you feel the need to troll, keep it to YouTube or 4chan man, it's not needed here.
