Here's an entry for IrishBecky 's Flower Power Spring Art Jam: a tribute to good ol' Roger Miller and one of his more solemn country tunes.Heh heh... Not the 'grooviest' of cartoons, I'll admit, but the song was originally released in 1965 and definitely has that sixties feel to it.
Art Jam and logo belong to Look both ways before you sing a song across the railroad tracks!!

This was the actual engine who pulled train 97 and wrecked in September 1903.

And, she is a sharp lookin' locomotive. Built in 1903 by Baldwin Locomotive Works of Philadelphia, that locomotive was involved in the famous wreck of September 1903 (she was only a few months old at the time). 14 people (including her crew) died in the wreck. The engine was later rebuilt and continued serving the Southern Railroad until it retired in 1935 and it was cut up for scrap.

I think that's an Electro Motive Division F7A diesel locomotive tight there. Or maybe it could be an E series.

Cool! The FL9s were built from 1956 - 1960. Many of them were replaced in the late 90's early 2000s, with a few having a working life of 50 years. The last FL9 to see passenger service was in late 2009 before it was cut up for scrap. A few FL9s are preserved today.

That makes two of us! I've been a Roger fan for some time now - never get sick of his silly ol' country tunes. A friend I knew from college used to love listening to one of his songs with me while driving to and from town.
