Night. Waning moon lighting the earth, throwing the land into sharp contrast, blue-white stars pulsate in a velvet sky, skeletal trees stretch up their white-boned fingers through encroaching mist as it wanders amidst slumbering hills.
The wordless hum of drowsed and steady breathing, the mist-filtered call of a lone, night-hunting owl, gliding on silent wings and the song of the wind as it dances among moon-drenched hillocks.
This is night.
A figure appeared on the crest of a hill, a black silhouette, framed by silver light. A rider, on the back of a giant wolf, which raised its black, silken-furred head and howled.
