Terry, what clay are the eyes made of here? (It's a different color than the body.)
If a different clay, what are your reasons for using a different type of clay just for
the eyes?

Hi Rhonda, The eyes are made from Milliput which is a two part epoxy putty. I mix it together and then roll up balls and leave them to cure. I end up with stone hard spheres that I can insert into the sculpt to become the eyes. The reason I do this is that I can then play around with the eyelids, trying different shapes and expressions without ever damaging or distorting the shape of the eyeballs themselves. I can also use tools to create a sharp clean edge to the eyelids without any fear of digging into the eyeball along the edge. Any self hardening putty will do (I think the popular one in the USA is Aves epoxy) or you could roll up balls of sculpey to the size you want and bake these prior to fitting into your sculpt.

Looks great! Β I like how you've done the base with the texture. Β The chimp looks amazing. Β I love the contrast between his crazy textured hair and his subtler chest and all the features there like the loose neck skin, the collarbone, and those veins. Β

Thanks a lot, you've picked up on the details that I worked hard to get right so it's great to hear that you think it all works!
