Point Tracker

Yes, I tried to play her name off her mother's name (using Enchant**** and something implying the metallic shade of her peacock roaning).

I've been on an enforced hiatus thanks to real life and in the meantime your art gets staggeringly amazing!

This girl is stunning! Beautiful colouring - the silvery peacock elements are just perfect and I've always had a soft spot for grullas anyway...but it's not just that. Your artwork is really gorgeous, Rebecca!

I love the pose; such a smooth, even canter with the thick feathers and long tail as usual, but its your shading that caught my eye first. I remember all the cel shading you used to do and I think you said some time ago you weren't confident with soft shading, but I'd never have guessed that with this. The HIGHLIGHTS in her coat... really - that shoulder in particular, the way you've lifted out all the interlocking muscles as they bunch together...just amazing.

The only tiny query is that in her design, her eye markings seem to run along her cheekbone, but here they're slanting across it. Not that it's a huge deal; markings that sit over bones do seem to rotate a little because they can be awkward to draw.

Anyway, really stunning picture. Looking forward to seeing more of this girl (and ironically, I've been working on some art of my own peacock grulla before I saw this) (in other news, hope you're doing good and hug your puppies for me ^^)

Ah, now you're just making me blush!

Thank you so much.

I have really fallen in love with this girl.  She was sort of an impromptu addition to my herd, once I acquired a spot to her golden mother.  I looked around for a short-lined black stallion (since her mother's line is long enough) to get my silvery girl.
I know that I have more than enough horses, but I couldn't resist adding this beauty to my herd.

To hear that my art is visibly improving is such an incredible compliment - especially from you!  I have always adored your soft shading styles.  It means so much to me that you think I'm getting better at my highlights.  THANK YOU.
That's not to say that my cel-shading is gone - I do miss doing that too.  But I try to keep reference styles similar, so the Faime all get the soft shading.  However, I have another Cavitto starter that I just added to my herd, and will get to work with cel-shading her as soon as I do the ref (since all of my other Cavitto refs are done in that style).

I love that you offer me constructive feedback on my art as well - seriously.  Now that you point it out, the facial/peacock eye pattern is way skewed on her reference in comparison to the foal design.  I didn't even realize until I went back to compare them both.  That is something that I'll have to find the time to go back and adjust, when I get my tablet out again.  Thanks for catching that.

I have seen your updated art of Fleecy... and read the stories (perfect entertainment while on a break, on my phone, at work).  I just need to take the time to leave you a proper comment - but long story short, I loves it!

The pups are doing great... keeping me ever on my toes.  So many stories I could tell with these guys.  I will definitely give them hugs for you... and you give one to Azza for me as well.  ♥

You're welcome

She's definitely a pretty one - and you're preaching to the choir, there! I have way more than enough horses, but sometimes you just stumble across one and that little voice at the back of your head goes 'aww, go on, what's one more?' (then one more becomes five more...)

And I'm no high authority on shading, but you have definitely come a way (not that you were bad by any means when I first discovered your art ^^) Its amazing that my opinion means that much to you, though (and I totally get that you want to keep your breed references in the same styles. None of mine have any uniformity at all, and when I have even a little time, I'd like to fix that). Haha, no problem, either - Sometimes I miss the simplest things with my own stuff and need them pointed out. Glad it helped (and I know some people aren't fond of the constructive part, but I always tend to leave rounded feedback when I comment. I just think it's so much more useful).

As for Fleecy - its awesome you spotted that! Life has been insane - all going well we're going to be moving house before my birthday in October, but its meant the past few months have been non-stop planning and sorting. I've got a lot to catch up on with HARPG but when I finally dug my tablet out again, I felt drawn to Fleecy's story. Since I was trying to tell it in real-time, the next part was about due ^^. Great to know you liked it, and I'd love to hear all your thoughts on it when you find the time - obviously no rush

Haha, I'm sure those two will keep you busy a while yet! I kept a day-by-day diary for the first (almost) year I had Azza, and it was full of all the crazy stories. And Azzi will take any excuse for a hug, so I'll be sure to pass one on
