This spurred from a convo with , sort of
You remember that Bleach Casualties I did? The uncoloured one? Yesh, well this is how Grimm would have looked if I finished that one. Then after talking with Zel I figured it was an idea I simply could not abandon altogether.
Grimmjow in a Hawaiian shirt. Aloha!
I tried something really different with my artistic approach. I kept my pencil lines instead of digitally inking them. Does it work better this way? I'm a bit inclined to say yes.....
I've had this feeling for a long time that whenever I do an ink over in PS I rape my lines and they lose all the 'me' that was in them annnnnnd the don't look as nice.
Or I could be talking nonsense, but........yeah.

It's a tribute of his "species" called hollows. He's a more advanced form, but it's like their namesake it represents their hollowness and yeah lol. They have no soul or heart....I can't remember the exact term they used.

I am totally loving the pencil lines, it really helps this picture 'cause it makes it look so much more casual and less stiff (or in your words, anti-raped, ahaha!).

Yes, she does. She did a great cosplay of him and Hitsugaya at Fanime. I don't think I really like any of the Arrancar, but I suppose if I had a fave it would be Lilinette or Halibel.

Ohhhh, Grimmjow, my weakness yes, I secretly know of Bleach. And like Grimmjow. :< . I love the idea of him in a Hawaiian shirt--especially those colours; I'm glad you went with oranges, yellows and greens. It goes well with his blue hair.
Also, I think you should play around more with the pencil + digital colouring combination. I used to do it quite a bit (I should revisit that).

The colour combination was one of my major motivations, I could see them in my mind's eye and just had to see em in the reality.
Pencil and digital colouring, I like the results. But I still don't know if it's better then my digital lineart. People seem to like my digital stuff better while I tend to dislike it and the vice versa of pencil.
It makes me angst a little.

He really is. And yes; I do know of Bleach; it's true! I have an Urahara plushie, and I even own the import version of the artbook "All Colour But the Black". I'm just really fond of Tite Kubo's illustration style, and let's face it--his ability to draw his characters in cool clothes simply cannot be overlooked by one such as myself! I am very secretive about this, though.
I'm really glad you made that colour combination reality. As I said; it really, really works with what you have here.
Perhaps it's a bit early to determine your feelings with using the pencil + digital colouring combination--as you're just starting to play around with it (I'm assuming), there's still time to get used to it and find out what works best for you. I imagine it's quite vexing when people prefer your digital lineart, though. Peoples' preferences can be a bit hard to pinpoint. I still think the pencil lineart is something to play around with.
Hell, I'll even implement it into my artistic boot camp regimen as a means to help motivate you, if you'd like.
