I am envious. With that back I'm certain he has no back problems!
Jokes aside, this is niiiiiiiceeeee, the blocky shading and lines really add a visually appealing element to the anatomy.

hey u know how u did the catpaws tutorial-esque thing for me the one time? can i have a similar one about how you draw feline and canine anthro backs?
π: 0 β©: 1
Remarin In reply to brightberries [2018-09-23 17:27:17 +0000 UTC]
Hahah well, "anthro backs" for me are basically "human backs" because I directly reference human anatomy to draw them :'3 I'd draw a feline anthro's back identical to a canine's humanoid back,, I'd even draw an anthro-horse the same. I think of my anthros often as human torsos with animal heads pasted onto them (and sometimes digitigrade legs)
I recently did a general thingie on human anatomy as a whole -Human Anatomy-
But for more specific back tutorials, there are tons of more professional sources when it comes to human anatomy www.google.com/search?client=fβ¦
www.youtube.com/watch?v=7EgQdvβ¦
If you're asking for direct anatomy tutorial, then I'd basically be just making carbon copies of ProkoTV videosΒ

do you know anyone who does draw anthro backs with more feline or canine anatomy translated into biped structure?
π: 0 β©: 2
Remarin In reply to brightberries [2018-09-23 19:26:33 +0000 UTC]
Hmm it's not something I keep an eye out for like that, so I don't have anything spring to mind. If I were to make anthros that look stereotypical dog / cat-like, I'd make one broad and buff like this one, and the cat slender and slim. But that's design differences , not anatomical differences.
Like here's an anthro/humanoid cat that's relatively buff-looking static1.squarespace.com/staticβ¦
And here's the same artist drawing another cat humanoid www.granitassocies.com/images/β¦
(examples come from Blacksad)
Human anatomy is quite diverse already, so most anthro artists don't think to differentiate between anatomical details when it comes to backs/torsos. It's usually in the smaller details where they differntiate, hands, paws, ears, tails,, and most importantly face. The only way I could imagine they'd make a significant difference between cat and dog humanoid backs, is if they used animal torsos, and animal shoulderblades, but then that wouldn't exactly be a classic "anthro" but rather a were-creature,, like the design for Lupin from Harry Potter vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/ppβ¦
^this is technically an anthro canine, with canine anatomy concerning the back,, but I'd presume that's not the kind of anthro you're looking for?

i think the problem with translating a canine to a biped structure, and expecting something that isnt particularly human, is that canines arent a biped structure and we areΒ
its not going to look much different than a human anyways no matter what you do, especially since we're one of the only species that walks quite like this.
you could use something like an ape as a reference if you want something more in the middle (ish) but generally, translating something to an anthro (like a human) youre going to get a human structure (like a human)
THAT and canines and felines are already pretty close to a human structure relatively, so if you shift em around a enough youd literally just get a humanΒ
