Description Another watercolor exercise made following the instructions of one of my painting books
I wonder if I'll be able to get such color effects also when I stop following the instructions... I'm trying to absorb it!

These came out great! I can see your minimal usage of paint, and only a minimal amount of brushstrokes and color are things I need to embrace to get better myself. You've captured those really well in these studies, great job.

You will take the knowledge you get from the books to each painting...but I understand your worry...I had the same one, and I still follow tutorials and books so I still worry about it some...but I am seeing myself utilize what I learn on my own.
You did a great job on the rocks, I love the color and texture.

Yes, I think you're right. And it's such a pleasure to see the knowledge take a new and more personal shape once you start working on your own, isn't it?
I'm glad you like the painting, thanks for commenting!

exatly...you get that wonderful moment where you say to yourself "I think I am finally getting it."

but with me, I botch it with the next stroke.

I bet the arches paper people have would love me if only they knew how much paper I go through.
